For those who don't check the general forum

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:47 am

Jason Bergman said this today,

"We wanted to give you guys a heads-up regarding the latest progress on Fallout: New Vegas updates.

We’ve come up with solutions for the Xbox 360 save issue folks are reporting, along with a number of other issues being reported. We’re currently running final testing and certification on a comprehensive patch for all three platforms (PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), so we’ll have something available in the coming weeks. When we have more details, we’ll let you know.

In the meantime, an incremental update for PC should be going up by early next week that will fix the save corruption issues and problems with companions, as well as improve performance for NVIDIA users and resolve some issues reported with Havok."

Also posted on the first sticky on the top of the page. This news has made my day to be honest. I'll definetely keep hold of the game now, knowing that a fix is on it's way.

I just can't wait to actually start the game now!

Aaahh I hadn't seen that. I just saw it on the general forum and hurried here to share the news since I'm sure most people don't check the stickies often.

I've been prowling for two weeks waiting for that stickied thread counter to go up by one post, haha. :P

Should put an end to the countless number of threads, providing people actually read this. I'm going with a 2-3 week wait now. Still, at least it's coming.

Emphasis mine.

Don't expect it any time soon. I wish they had pushed back the release for those "coming weeks" instead of choosing to put their reputation through the shredder.

Very, very happy. Now, I can definitly take my time to finish F3 and the DLC's. It's good to know that the patch should fix the major issues.

Providing it has absolutely nothing to do with the DLC, I don't mind how long it will take. I only took a guess as to how long the community would be waiting. As you pointed out, I could be completely wrong. But whatever, it's coming.

I guess it will take another week to test and up to 2 for certification, now hopefully i can put in a bit of Black Ops and fall back on Fallout once "Mapathy" sets in. :celebration:

But will corrupted saves be fixed, or will it just prevent future corruption?

i hope they fix this asap, all my saves do not currently work what so ever, frustrated/pissed that i spent 60 bucks on a game and atm it can be used as a coaster, trade in, frisbee, anything else besides playing. im level 8 so im not really far into the game, but im mad that im stuck for a least a few weeks, i have a 2 yrd old and a nother one on the way, these type of games i love due to the lengh and replay of them and i dont have alot of extra money to blow off, sorry im rambling, but this issue JUST HAPPENED, i understand that there are bugs in games, most of us have come to except that, but this is a pretty huge "bug" as far as i am concerned and dam the makers/testers for not seeing this before launch. sorry again, im out

Nice to hear they work on it.. but im really disapointed by this "weeks" thing.. i means ive been waiting to get a my hands on this game for a LONG time.. i get to play it for 40 hours.. im in the middle of the story / game.. and cant continue and weeks later i might be able to load my save again.. this better not happen in the next fallout game.

Smart move. They expect us to just wait a month to play their broken game. They should have delayed this tiltle, instead they sell the public a faulty product. Someone should sue their ass. Its not even guarenteed that this upcoming patch/update will fix the hundred plus bugs in this faulty software. Pathetic attempt at explaining the sitituation is going to make all the fans forget about not being able to play somthing they already purchased.. goodone

There is too much for them to ever fix it all. It will never be a game that isn't broken to all hell. It's like this pretty new house with all these awesome furnishings but you discover it's been put together by drunken, blindfolded monkies and will collapse at any minute.

Yeah, they managed to add some new, cool stuff to the game but how they manage to simultaneously break so much is beyond me.

This is sweet. I sincerely hope they fix the companions' quests as I've detailed in the Asian thread.

Arcade was glitched after "For Auld Lang Syne". He was dressed in Tesla Power Armor and his character model kept blinking in a translucent state. I couldn't get him to follow me, and during the final battle at Hoover Dam only the 5 old timers showed up; Arcade was no where to be seen. His dialog tree only consisted of a handful of options and his companion wheel was missing when I clicked on him. Raul's quest is still bugged, as in talking to Ranger Andy won't trigger any dialog.

Other quests that I did not test with the first patch but hopefully the devs have been able to replicate and fix with success are:

- Veronica not following you after her quest in "I Could Make You Care"
- In "You Can Depend on Me", convincing Henry Jamison is impossible as all he does is give you a generic "Goodbye" dialog option. According to the guidebook, more dialog options should be available for selection.

I am glad we got some answers today. Looks like we made enough noise for them to shut us up. Good job guys. The only thing that isnt adding up is the certification process. The 1st patch was released on the 22nd and release day for the game was the 18th. I don't see how it can take weeks to be "certified" when they created and certified a patch in 4 days. The only way that this adds up is that they were creating the patch a "few weeks" prior to release day. Tsk tsk tsk, sounds like they sent it out to get pressed up and leaned on the Title Update feature instead of properly testing a game. Good call :tops:

*P.S. - How about we get some news on the status of our now "corrupt" save states should they be thrown in the trash and we should restart to get a head start on things or will they be usable? And if we do need to restart our venture - What should we stay away from now that you do know the problem. Its only right we get these answers since this process is going to take "weeks"
