Dark screen

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:57 pm

Right at 29 hours and 40 minutes into the game, while at Cottonwood Cove with Boone, fighting the Legion, the screen goes very dim. I've gone back to all my save files, and when that time elapsed in playing occurs, the same thing happens. I can set the contrast to lightest setting, but it still has a vague and hazy look, with no depth visible. Has anyone seen this before?

Does it desaturate at all? If that's what you're experiencing, then yeah, that happened to me at Black Mountain - it almost looks like it's in black and white when I go there now.
If you're just talking about it getting dark, then I don't know...have you tried fast traveling and seeing if the problem dissipates if you're somewhere else?

Once it turns dark, nothing I've tried 'fixes' it. I've stayed where I am (the Cove), saved, restarted my 360, no luck. I've fast-traveled, let it load the new location, and no luck, then did the save, restart, bit. Same thing.

i know for sure the game does this on purpose in places like Cottonwood cove, camp forlorn etc etc

sometimes the screen desaturates, or goes sepia toned, or in cottonwood cove i think its kinda green-

i could barely read my PipBoy in cottonwood cove-

but if you leave the area it SHOULD go back to normal-

if you go to goodsprings and the screen still looks like cottonwood cove,t hen you do indeed have a glitch..

i guess the only fix would be reloading an older save..

maybe try taking cateye, when it wears off maybe the screen will return to normal?

good luck with that

Thanks for the suggestions. Here's what I did over the last few hours. I fast-traveled to Searchlight Camp, no good. Went to Novac, no good. But, success, when I went to Goodsprings. Now, I can go back to Cottonwood Cove, and it's returned to regular visibility. Searchlight remains messed up, and if I travel there and walk away, it stays. If I travel there and then leave via fast-travel, it's good. Very strange, but I can live with this one.

So, returning to Goodsprings helped trip something.

Thanks for all the ideas.
