Crashing GECK

The GECK crashes every time I try to enter 'World (Heightmap) Editing'. Why is this happening?

I have 4GB of RAM, but I tried using it while other applications were open. I'll try closing everything. Thanks for the link.

It does for the same for me, even on a 3ghz quadcore and 16 GB of RAM. I wrote it off as yet another bug. If you can't get it running, you can still edit your worldspace directly with the Landscape Editing window; it's a pain in the backside, but it's better than nothing.

If you have it, you may be able to edit the heightmap with FO3's Geck, and Import it into FNV. Not sure if it'll work, but if it's a large worldspace you're making, it's worth a shot.

All I want to do with the GECK right now is remove the LOD of certain objects. How do you do that exactly? I'm assuming you do it through heightmap editing, but I'm not sure.

LOD generation is separate from the heightmap editor. I know how to add them to custom areas but not remove them from existing ones; to be honest, I'm not even sure if it's possible.

I hope you can. The creator of RTS, arcoolka, told me I could remove existing LOD with the GECK. I've removed a few buildings from the game with that mod and now I have to look at those LOD eyesores if I don't fast travel to the locations.

There are multiple threads here and at newvegasnexeus which agree, it is not possible for a normal user to regenerate / edit LOD on the main worldspace. It is possible on smaller ones. This is why many modders do not add/remove buildings on the main worldspace.
