Cass' face texture?

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 11:27 pm

I'm trying to alter Cass' face a bit, but she still has the red cheeks and dark nose no matter what I change. Tried with default and Project Beauty textures. It doesn't show up in the GECK, only in-game. All of the other Cass mods I've looked at also seem to have this issue. Anyone figured out why?

Have you tried changing the tone? In the GECK it's rather elaborate with tone. With the parts you want to alter try setting them to 0 on the slider, see if that helps. I'd say it's the tone as all females use the same face texture.

Yeah, I've made her complexion pretty even in GECK. I'd made a preset for my char that looks the same in GECK and the game before this, but Cass just isn't cooperating. It's like there's a script or something in the game that's overriding my settings only on her nose and cheeks.

I think Obsidian made specific 'bodymods' and 'facemods' textures for certain NPCs. They're in the Fallout - Textures.bsa under textures/characters/facemods. I'm guessing this could be the face texture you're unable to find in the GECK.

Many NPC facial tones are baked out to hard textures as povuholo mentioned. The characters' FormID is used to name the file, IIRC. I don't know if it's the case with F3/FNV, but with Oblivion, a special hack was created to be able to override the files.

Yep, it is the case. I found one that corresponded with Cass's FormID, and whadyaknow, it has some flushness to its nose and cheeks. :)

Couldn't it be archive-invalidated by a texture file that's just that uniform warm gray tone?

Woo. :D Good to hear.

I wonder... Could these files have something to do with the weird more-conspicuous-than-FO3's neck seam? It's like the skin tone system is borked compared to FO3's or something.

Those textures are the same as the sliders, just baked out to a texture instead of happening in memory.
