DLC's supposed to just automagically install if you have the base game installed and Steam is open at home, right?

If "Automagically" was a word, then yes.

But since it's not: This DLC require money so you need to go to the DLC page on Steam, buy it, and then it'll download into your FNV folder.

It totally is.
And I totally have (given them money).

I was just making sure it'll be ready to play when I get home without me having to start anything special.

Actually, it is:

Automatically, but in a way that, for some reason (typically because it is too complicated, or too ugly, or perhaps even too trivial), the speaker doesn't feel like explaining to you.

This term is quite old, going back at least to the mid-70s in jargon and probably much earlier. The word `automagic' occurred in advertising (for a shirt-ironing gadget) as far back as the late 1940s.

Steam still automagically refuses my purchase :hehe:

..And obviously after typing that it went trough.

Then it should be in your downloads section, saying that you're downloading an update for FNV. You can let it sit all you want. My size was about 408~ MB's.

Wow, I got beat by the '40's.... I feel as though I just got slapped in the face by the dictionary of past times.

Now I don't feel as bad but I still feel slapped overall.

Oh well, at least Honest Hearts is in my game now. :celebration:

Edit:

For reference:

HonestHearts.esm - 16.5 MB
Main .bsa - 375 MB
Sounds .bsa - 13.6 MB

Okay ... still waiting to get the payment done, it just won't. Same error message over and over, regardless of restarts, gifts, anything. Anyone else still not getting it done?

Restart Steam again

Awesome. That will solve it, the 50th restart. And no, it didn't. Restart won't help, removing the game from checkout won't help, both combined won't help, other computer won't help, sending gift won't help, other browser won't help.
The error message actually switches between "There has been an internal error initializing your transaction. Please contact support for assistance." and the longer version in some occasions. There were no problems buying Dead Money the same way. Any other suggestions?

What the fat F* happened? I bought it and it downloaded but there was no esm or esp to click and the onty Honest Hearts file in the data directory was the Honest Hearts Sounds BSA. Wha happa? Oh sure, Steam is more then happy to allow me to put it in my my cart again and buy it again...

How can I fix this?

Update. I quit steam and resarted and it started downloading a larger file. I suppose that will be the bulk of the file.

If they don't want people to figure out and use ways to prirate software they should make delivery systems that frigging work.

I didn't untill you suggested it just now. Seriously, yes, they do do it on purpose. Developers roll out and expect us to buy or use stuff that doesn't work all the time. And because this is the only delivery system for this content they have even less incentive to prevent screw ups like this. I am not complaining about minor bugs. Steam also causes Fallout NV to crash whenever it has a pop up news update. This delivery system just does not work well with Fallout and I am super glad Skyrim won't be using it.

At least today everything worked like a charm. The need to restart Steam before it fully downloads the DLC is still a bit odd though ...
