I have crash issues with the patch, though I could run OK (with exception of a few graphics glitchs and the save issue) before I patched. So I've unistalled once again, both Steam and FNV. Reinstalled Steam. Insured I had the profile for FNV set to not update and reinstalled FNV. I go to fire the game up and guess what the f'n thing did? It started updating. And can I stop it once it's started? NO! I don't want the patch. I was better off without it, but you are going to reset my options each time to make sure I have it?

Not only does Steam make it so I cannot play the game if I am on a business trip and don't have data in a hotel room or plane. It's going to ignore my preferences of how I want it to work even if I am willing to accept their data requirement. I've started playing fewer and fewer new games as I've gotten older (I'm 41), and this totalitarian control over how I use the game may push me out of gaming altogether. I guess you guys won't care until I stop giving you my money.

Obviously the builders of this game have zero appreciation for my time. I understand the risk of aftermarket attrition. I work in InkJet RnD as an architect/program manager. We have issues with cloners and the like stealing money from us (and that is what it is, stealing), but you can’t irritate good, honest paying customers too much. And you are. You seem to have zero value for my time, which annoys me as I likely make more than most of the designers of this game do. I don’t watch TV. I only watch one sports team and sport. I spend most of my limited free time doing things like restoring vintage motorcycles or fly fishing. Occasionally I see a game that intrigues me and I do that for a little bit as a bit of ‘brain candy time’. Know what I don't like spending my time doing? Repeated uninstalls and reinstalls, tweaking game settings and the like in an attempt to get to use something I just paid good money for.

I’m done. I will wait you guys out on this game till you fix it, but I am NEVER buying an Obsidian game again. With NWN2, Obsidian was on my watch list of companies I will never buy from. They did finally 'fix it', though it wasted a lot of my time in the process. They seemed to have very poor control/understanding of what they were doing then, and this game is not convincing me anything has changed. I love the Fallout world so I gave them another chance. Bad decision on my part. I will never buy their product again.

Bethesda. I have not beef with you at this point. Fallout3 worked fine. But the way Obsidian runs their business is not in line with how I expected to be treated as a customer. And if you continue to work with them to attempt to ‘milk’ a game engine, I will not buy it.
