Returning my game very soon

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 11:37 pm

Okay I bought Fallout New Vegas the first day it came out, and have been playing it ever since, well up until last week. Last week I was in a cave with a dead night stalker because I was finishing, The cure for the night stalker quest (In Jacob's town.) Anyway I leave the cave and needed to go grab Lily who is at the Lucky 38. ( Because I use Veronica, and Ed-E.) And I need Lily to finish the quest. Well I go to the strip entrance and hit (A) To enter and it gives me the roulette load screen well after 1-2min it goes black and my 360 freezes, and it would appear my data is corrupted. Now I play for long periods of time, my last save was lv.17 and I am now 20 almost 21. There is a large amount of time in between and I will not go back and go through those levels again, instead I will return the game. I have been patiently waiting for a patch that will fix this but my patience is wearing thin. Please help! I've tried numerous things to try and get around this. I've tried avoiding the quest all together and just working on others, I've tried turning off auto save. Passing time. Moving things around nothing works. I just cannot enter New Vegas. I really just want to finish my game so far up until now I have not run into any problems. PLEASE HELP!!!

Actually Gstaff mentioned something about this in the pinned thread earlier today:

We’ve come up with solutions for the Xbox 360 save issue folks are reporting, along with a number of other issues being reported. We’re currently running final testing and certification on a comprehensive patch for all three platforms (PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), so we’ll have something available in the coming weeks. When we have more details, we’ll let you know.

In the meantime, an incremental update for PC should be going up by early next week that will fix the save corruption issues and problems with companions, as well as improve performance for NVIDIA users and resolve some issues reported with Havok.

If the save file is corrupt chances are it can't be fixed - although this is just speculation on my part so it's probably best to wait and see what's said when this patch is released. However even if old saves can't be fixed the patch should fix problems going ahead.

If you can return it, I would.

Pick it up again around the end of the year, I imagine what they intend to fix (won't be everything) will be fixed by then and you can give it another whirl.

Hahaha! If the old saves can't be fixed I'll be returning the game no questions asked.

Still don't understand returning the game. the fixes are coming shortly (yesterdays gstaff update) and returning it doesn't avail you many options for other games to play. I preordered this and black ops, so I have a couple game options. But as for Investments in your $60, I dont think you're going to get many better options for games this season on xbox as many titles have been developed for kinnect with a few time waster exceptions in the pile.

TBH even when they say the update is coming soon, first they have to finish it and then it has to go to Microsoft to be tested, which can take ages(Comic Jumpers achievement update was at MS for about 2 weeks, and has just been released yesterday..and that was just for 1 fault)

with Fallout NV being released in the middle of a host of other great games,i can see why people would want to return the game, and as said maybe pick it up again later on in the year

Host of other great games? I can think of one or two (though I could never get into Starcraft, black ops will be thrilling, but after that? Assasins creed? Red dead redemption DLC?)
Yes it takes time to go through. I keep finding more bugs each day.
Today's new bug was Raul not repairing my gear even jn his shack and now I can't get into the room at the end of Charleston Cave. I lockpicked the door, it opens, but invisible barrier prevents me from entering. Did this in my last playthrough no problem.

I stil think you made the right choice. Borderlands is fun (but nearly a year old and I wished they had gone a little further to incorporate SOME kind of story aside from te intro teaser, I keep missing the GOTY reference (my na?veté) I think assassins creed is going to be a retread (though I did own 1&2 for about a month each until I had run out of game, CoD is going to have a decent amount of game time for your buck, I was never drawn in by the pondering mechanics of dead space, but I love horror and space, I still don't get the success of the fable series (and dragon age at that...played it for a couple months but thought it was kind of predictable, Medal of Honor is supposed to be nearly as broken as NV.
I would suggest the Red Dead zombie expansion. It's supposed to be great fun and a great value (I loved the primary game).
I'm looking forward to 2011 with the new Bioshock finally getting a new setting. All these games are definitely worth playing, but I wouldnt dismiss NV in the meanwhile. I think once everything is patched it will prove to be the standout game for the next year.
And of course you could always try spending $150 to pet animals and encourage your gf to lose weight. :)
