quests that take you on a journey!

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 10:33 am

you know how dlc missions take you to a brand new map with new everything! well i dont understand why cant mission in the orignal game cant do the same kind of thing. where it would take you to a map that ether is impossible to enter without or is only there for the mission and after.

this way we could have a main map that is big but make it bigger with side quests with maps

please tell your opinons on this subject

I love epic side quests.

Reminds me of the Mages Guild story line in Oblivion, except the final battle anyway.

Yeah I do think that the vanilla game should have some locations outside of the main map but none as big as PL.

well ya i mean if it were huge then that kinda means it would be its own storyline XD but i could be like an area to explore for things

plus if area 51 was part of a side quest then it could be in the normal game without a add on

the only thing i can think of why it wouldnt be in the game or later games is that the devs might not have a whole lot of add on ideas left that would still be unused

When do you go to a separate location during the mages guild questline?

I think it would be nice if there were quests kind of like escaping from Raven Rock. That facility was massive. Maybe not as much as the DLCs, but it was still very very large.

Well, perhaps the "Arizona killer" quest will involve that. But I agree, I would enjoy very small off worldmap outside areas that could be visited because of a quest.

I think quests that take you off the main map, they would prefer to make into DLC. If a lot of effort is put to making another small map area, there could be a sting of quests easily that add 5 or more hours of gameplay.

I think all of the mages guild quests take place in cyrodiil. I don't think any of them take you to a separate map for a quest?

I enjoy them too - and actually like it when they blend parts of the DLC in the main wasteland / world and part in a new worldspace. That way the quests are all grounded in the main world but lead you somewhere else. I thought that Broken Steel was particularly well-done in this respect.

I am developing my own mod in the same tradition, with initial parts taking the player to areas in the main wasteland, on the strip to find people, etc - only then leading the player off to a new worldspace to complete the adventure. For technical reasons its better this way for modders as we don't have to regenerate LOD for the entire wasteland - which is a requirement on the Fallout3 engine that is best-avoided when possible.

Now that we know DLC's are in the works, we can hope for more epic adventures. :)

So nice it needed to be commented on twice.

I didn't say they did I was just commenting on the feel of epicness they gave off. Heres a patronizing smiley. :goodjob:

I'm pretty sure they all do take place in Cyrodiil, but I can think of a few non DLC/KotN/SI Oblivion quests that do take place outside of Cyrodiil.
Spoiler
Just about anything involving travelling to Dagons Deadlands, travelling to Mankar Camoran's Paradise, Peryite's Daedric quest, Boethiah's Daedric quests, and travelling to Rythe Lythandus' painting world come to mind. There are also several quests that, while taking place in Cyrodiil, have some very otherwordly and unique scenery.

Just that there's no need to post the same question or response twice is all. It'll only serve to annoy people, and won't get your question answered any faster.
