Install location?

Just bought FONV and plan to install mods. Running Win 7. Should I allow it to install to the default folder C: ProgramFilesx86\Steam or should I direct it elsewhere? I know both Oblivion and FO3 both needed to be installed out of the PrgoramFilesx86 location due to administrator issues or some such issue. Curious if FONV adheres to the same issue. Thanks.

PS- since this is a Steam-centric install, will redirecting the install away from the default Steam folder location mess up Steam's ability to download and install patches and DLC content?
Note that I don't have Steam installed on my computer yet, so there's no pre-existing directory.

If you don't already have steam, it will be installed when you install the game. You can't install the game in a different directory. You'll choose where to install Steam, and then NV will be installed in the SteamApps subdirectory (as will any other Steam game). You don't need to install it in your Program Files (x86) directory. I installed it in a directory called Games on a second hard drive and it works fine from there.

Choose your Steam install location carefully, because once you install it there, any Steam game will be placed in that directory.

Thx Harry. Installing into C:\Steam\ so that I don't install into the ProgramFilesx86 folder.
