Thieves guild: the bedlam job : V

The quest says i have to steal 500g in Whiterun... well I must have stolen double that ammount by now and it still won't complete. Noone saw me and I even tried selling these items to the fence to try to get it to update. Am I missing something here or is it a known glitch? Can't seem to find any information about it on the internet, so I tried it here

Read the notes...are you stealing from containers...says wont work.
