1280 x 720 WITHOUT letterbox ?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 9:51 pm

Hi @ all,

Is it possible to use 1280x720 without letterbox ?

I have an 1920x1080 native resolution screen but i want to play it in 1280x720 (just some personal reason), both resolutions are in 16:9 but 1280x720 always gets black bars above and below the screen... does anyone know a solution to get 1280x720 without the letterbox ?

If you have an AMD GPU you can go into CCC and under "My Digital Flat Panel" select the "Predefined and Custom HDTV Format" of 720p60 to set your HDTV panel to that resolution. If it's not quite filling the screen you can use the "Scaling Options" and underscan until it just fills the veiwing space.

I'm sure Nvidia control centre has a section also to set your panel to the resolution you want. I cant't tell you exactly where though since I don't have an Nvidia card at this time. Just look around in there and find the section where it allows you to set your panel to natively display that resolution rather than the 1080p60.

game would'nt start when i tried any letterbox resolution options and res i wanted was'nt in the list. i went in the Skyrimprefs.ini file and typed in my own custom resolutions. the one in documents/my games/Skyrim and the other one in steamapps. it automatically changed the ratio. might be some other resolution options there, not sure offhand.
