360 Hard Drive Install

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 8:56 am

I'm about to switch my preorder to PS3, partially because I want to build up my library for that system, but also due to the Hard Drive texture bug. Is anyone else doing this? Does anyone think I'm too easily scared and should stay with 360?

What is this texture bug you speak of?

It will probably be fixed in the day 1 patch, or a future patch.

Apparently textures only show up properly if you play straight from the disc.

There's no texture bug. Just a photoshop prank that worked on everyone obviously.

That is false. I have heard that the writer of the article was mistaken. *crosses fingers* and no, I am not changing my preorder.

It's just a cache issue. Keep it clear every 5-6 hrs of gameplay and you should be ok. I wouldn't about it. I'm not, my preorder stands.

EDIT : Ah! So, it WAS a load of crap? I thought as much. Still, keep your cache clear. It's good maintenance.

Yea? Where's your proof? Have you personally tested this yourself? Maybe spoken to someone from Bethesda regarding the possible existence of this bug?

How so?

The game saves data to the HDD so it loads faster the next time you go to an already discovered spot correct? SO why would you want clear it every 6 hours and start over with longer load times? Doesn't that make installing somewhat pointless???

im scared about this too

ive been really pushing my 360 for the last year or so- the disc drive barely works
installs are very important to me because as long as it reads the disc once, i dont have to worry after that

i prefer the 360, but i also have a ps3...
id really like this cleared up before friday so i can make a decision

I wouldn't get it for the PS3 if I were you. There have been reports that not all of the graphical features you might find on the Xbox or PC will be in the PS3 version. I can't confirm that, but I suggest you look into it more before you buy it.

Other forums seem to say that aside from the hard drive bug the ps3 and 360 versions have pretty much the same issues. But thats just what I hear

So you want to change your pre order cause you heard the sky is falling? and even if the sky is falling there's a day one patch to fix it. And it's not even a game breaking bug its only IF you install it on your HDD.

Not really but compared to you, probably! Kidding.

Installing a game to your HDD makes it to where all the data loads from the HDD itself. Once you start your new game, first go around in Skyrim, everything you do and see is cached to the HDD. Therefor the next time you do something that was already done previously, its load time should be somewhat quicker and less freeze-happy.

May I ask how you just KNOW that?
Do you really think something that small would have been an issue with Bethesda on all the new tech they're putting out in this game?

It would be like buying a brand new car and forgetting where the keys go to start the thing.

I am suspicious of these reports.

Why hasn't this been mentioned by any reviewers?

Well bugs do happen, stuff goes wrong. Now I'm not saying this issue does exist or it doesn't, nobody knows.

I do not own the game nor will I have it in my possession until midnight 11-11-11, but without many details on how I will say I saw it played, installed on an HDD, and it had NO issues whatsoever.

How long did you watch? It is my understanding that the bug gets worse until you clear the cache, as someone mentioned earlier.

Because reviewers don't have leaked copies but original ones instead.Plus it's also possible that that bug happens if you try to torrent the game prolly. You do it and a few files get changed. Is it possible?Well I don't think a big company like Bethesda would ignore bugs like texture one
