360 with no hard drive

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 5:22 pm

Dear All,

Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer during what I'm sure is an extremely exciting time for all TES fans.

Basically, I have a really old 360 'arcade' core system with no hard drive. Today I have tried to hook up to xbox live for the first time. However, for some reason I can't seem to get online - I think the problem is that the system wants me to 'update'; but I don't have enough free memory (no hard drive) to do this.

Thus, I am wondering where this leaves me with regards the 1.1 patch. Do I need to actually be signed into xbox live to receive the patch or will I be able to get it simply by hooking my xbox up to the internet? If not, am I pretty screwed until I am able to sign in to xbox live?

I hope this makes sense, and thanks again.

Best,
Si

I'm not 100% sure but i think you can use a USB stick as "HardDrive" in the XBOX 360.

Give it a try

Dude, how have you been playing on a 360 with no hard drive? You can't save, download, or update anything with out a hard drive to put it on.

Just buy a USB flash drive. 5 gig shouldn't be too expensive and you can install skyrim to it with that size (skyrim is 3.8 gig)

This. 20gb ones are like... $20 at GameStop and they might be on sale right now for less, I forget. Do yourself a favor and pick one up.

Yes, I'm quite aware that a hard drive will make things easier, but I'm not in a position to get one at the moment. So, does any one know whether I need to be able to sign into Xbox live in order to get the patch, or is being hooked up to the internet enough? Thanks
