Skyrim has been a labor of love for us since we started designing it in 2006. We never imagined it would become the phenomenon it has.
And that is because of you, the fans. It was all of you who made it a success.
We can’t thank you enough for embracing the game, spreading the word, and making it your own.***
For the last year and a half we’ve been working on new content for Skyrim; from the game updates, Creation Kit, Steam Workshop, Kinect support, to DLCs.
Parts of our team have also been in pre-production on our next major project, and that game is at the point where it requires the studio’s full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet.
Even though we’re moving on, we’ll still have minor updates to Skyrim as needed. We’ve invested so much of ourselves into Skyrim and will never truly say goodbye to it.
We loved hearing your stories, your in-game triumphs, and your suggestions.
One thing stuck out to us through those emails, letters, and postings.
And that is – video games matter. They’re as important to you as they are to us. It’s not just about entertainment, it’s about your time. And you chose to spend it with our game.
Thank you again for all your support.
We hope you stay engaged in the gaming community here and elsewhere. Keep spreading the word.
Games are the world’s best entertainment because they can do what other forms cannot – fill you with the wonder of exploration and the pride of accomplishment.
We look forward to sharing our next adventure with you.
Until next time,
Bethesda Game Studios

I am optimistic to see a 2.0 patch until the end of this Year, but i may be wrong... !!!!
Hopefully the lip-sync bug that 1.9 added.
They really need to fix the damn clipping on the Gauldur amulet...the other amulets of the same design (ancient nord, saarthal) don't clip at all so there's no excuse why the Gauldur clips so horribly and has since release.
If you think that's bad, try putting on a Thieves' Guild Hood as a vampire.
If there's a patch, it'll be called The Elder Scrolls VI, not 1.10.
We had a 1.1 patch, the day of release back on 11-11-11, pretty sure 2.0 comes after 1.9.XX.0.8. They cannot just keep on updating the X's, if they do another it is bound to be a 2 of some sort. I am not really expecting any more patches though.
Honestly, I'd be okay with them being done with it. On Xbox, all the serious issues are patched (for me anyway) and I don't have a lot of extra cash floating around to buy a new DLC every month.
If they don't release another patch, it would still be one of the best implemented open-world games of this generation. Compare it to the litany of problems Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas had. It's perfectly playable as is.
I know they're not developing Online, but I do want them to have time for Wolfstein and whatever else they are doing next (Fallout 4? Fingers crossed)
It's all a bit like that big fella in your cell saying "I'm using butter, this won't hurt a bit".
I'm sure they'll continue making minor updates, considering it's still the latest Elder Scroll game released.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is being made by MachineGames, Bethesda is the publisher, so that game is nothing to do with Bethesda Game Studios either. We just had an Elder Scrolls game, and for such a small studio two franchises are more than enough work. They would have to have Fallout 4 in full production, seems unlikely they would abandon Fallout after only one game, when they already said they had plans for it.
Personally I would not mind if they farmed out Fallout 4 to Obsidian, and started making the next Elder Scrolls game, but I think the Fallout fans might object to that idea.
I'd love it if Obsidian did the writing for Fallout 4, and many fans would agree with me. But their QC leaves a lot to be desired for some reason. And it's not just New Vegas - Alpha Protocol and KOTR II are also in the category of being good stories with not-so-good implementation.
Patch numbering is a funny thing - the first patch was really 1.01 and the current 1.09 (or 1.009, 1.0009, and so on...). 2.0 would be a new version of the game/engine.
