About Brawls

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 4:49 am

If you get into a brawl, and you have a companion with you (such as a spouse), make sure you ask your partner to wait at a safe distance first.
Otherwise, he or she will jump in and try to kill whoever you're brawling with.
This can lead to failed quests if you were merely supposed to intimidate someone for example.
Also, make sure you stop punching when your opponent gets knocked down to one knee. That is the point at which they admit defeat and you can resume dialogue with them. If you continue to harm them after that point it is considered criminal.

Hmmm... I "heard" about this. I hope this is a AI problem Bethesda can fix in a patch.

Speaking of companions, looks like you can only have one follower at a time so if you need to take on a new follower for a quest, and you have to leave your spouse behind, pick a place to make them wait that is easy to keep tabs on.

Got it. My spouse will have to stay home where it's safe, tough male warrior nonwithstanding.

(Yes, I'm playing as a female mage.)

Thanks for the tip about the brawling. Now that I know when they accept defeat, I won't continue plummeting them.

This is not so much related to the topic, but some might like to know:

Some of you may know that if you use your dragon shouts in town, guards will warn you that it is unsettling the towns folk and ask you to stop. Not everyone is eager to see the return of the Dragonborn, and the shouts agitate and confuse on-lookers because they can't grasp what just happened.

But do a shout in town once or twice anyway, and you will receive an anonymous letter of admiration from someone who has recognized you as Dragonborn. The letter will be delivered by a courrier who runs up to you.
