About Lydia, can I lose her?

Post » Mon Jan 28, 2013 4:37 am

Hello,

First of all I would like to clear the title; when I say "lose" I mean it in the way you may lose your headsets or your glasses on the bus.

While I was playing a reached a way that I could only access by jumping, so she could not follow me immediately, so as usually, she(like any other ally) will make the way around and disappear for later on coming back to you.

It did not happen this time. She did not show up a couple of hours of gameplay later(not all the hours at ones :tops: ). I eventually take a new ally and this one join me with out mentioning I have another ally, neither I get a message that my ally died(like on Fallout 3, I don't know if this happens on Skyrim).

She is not on the Jarls castle or on the last place I saw her. Could she be dead? Or lost somewhere on Skyrim?

Thank you very much.

That's "lose," and yes, it's possible to lose a follower. Have you tried to find her or her body using console commands?

(Edit: OK, I had to look them up:)

"Louse", I'm confused, do you mean 'lasso'

No, sadly, I don't think it's possible to lasso lydia.

Lydia might look like she just stepped out of a cheap 80's night club, but I don't think you have to louse her.

Yes, your companions will go AWOL on you, particularly if you walk somewhere they can't. When my companions go missing, here is what I do to get them back:

1. Wait in place for an hour, if they are around, they will show up
2. Fast Travel, even to the location I am at. Same as above.
3. Wait 73 game hours, if you see a message about your follower getting bored, then wait another 5 days, and go back to where you found them or their current home.

If the above does not work, then load a save from before you lost your companion.

I m sorry for the terrible grammar mistake, now its obvious english isn't my native language(I edited what I could).

I will follow those advices, thank you very much for the help, I hope I can have her back.

(Its not the first time I use louse when I try to say lose, I must have produce a lot of LoL faces).

Again,

Thank you.

Want to louse Lydia? Just leave her in Honorhall Orphanage (with Grelod in charge) for a few days. Those p[oor kids are priobably hopelessly neglected and their little heads are hopping with buggies. When Lydia emerges, she'll be scratching her scalp endlessly and shopping around for a fine-tooth comb.

Typically if my companion has fallen behind during my travels I will wait until I reach my next destination to see if they are really lost. To find out simply fast travel to that location, the one you are already at, and they should show up. If not they are gone, either dead, or stuck somewhere. If you are on the PC you can go to them using console commands as mentioned above. On the 360 or PS3 it will be necessary to reload a previous save.

I play on the Xbox 360.

The only thing I can do is keep playing and hope she goes back to the castle or that I find her some where.

Not a big deal, but its like a mystery I must resolve.

If you were able to get a new follower I believe that means she is dead.

Thats what I though, since normally new followers will say something about you having a companion.

If she die it means she have done so some where on Skyrim trying to go back to me, I was close to a river when I did make that jump, perhaps she is on the river. I'll make a quick search there, but nothing more(impossible to know where else she could be).

The Halls of the Dead in Major Cities are good places to find the remains of fallen followers.

Seriously? I never knew that, nor thought to try it.

I don't know about followers, but often find the coffins of people who have died due to vampires, bandit raids or dragon attacks down there. Same goes for people like Ulfric.

You can lose them for a long time. One time my Redguard (a DiD character at the time) was getting pounded by a Drager Deathlord, so he dashed out of Soljund's inkhole, hoping Vorstag would follow. But he didn't, so I assumed the worst. About 48 hours later, I get an announcement that Soljund's sinkhole is clear. And a day or so later, Vorstag comes trundling up like I'd just misplaced him for a minute or two. I felt like a total loser, having left him to his fate like that. Suppose that's why I dedided DiD wasn't really for me.
