We still aren't sure about that =\ we keep getting mixed information really. Though you can most definitely use alchemy.

Pants, chest, gloves and boots

Wrong, chest and legs are always on piece in Skyrim, but there are still gloves helms and boots.

I wonder what these people talking about pauldrons are getting this game confused with..

does wow have pauldrons right? do any of those DA games have them. where is it from? usually the people posting here are fastidious enthusiasts or true first timers.

One thing for sure, I'm definitely happy about the look of the Imperial Legion. Bringing back a more Morrowind-like aesthetic. :D

Like the other has said, they are one single unit. I don't really mind it though because you can customize your armor to an extent. I am going to have to be satisfied with that

While I would have preferred separate pieces there is still a considerably bigger armor variety than in oblivion, and many variations of each one it looks like.

So it is still an improvement on oblivion in most regards.

Chest, helmet, arms, legs, feet. Pauldrons are a part of chest. There are a lot more types of armors though. Also more weapons. For example:
Spoiler
Imperials now carry imperial swords and not just iron or steel. They made weapons specifically for the guards which makes me have high hopes for the item database.

They also mentioned they could have more NPCs on screens with armor pieces merged.

Not sure yet.
Bethesda has yet to confirm them.
I also heard some rumors about some dragon shouts.
Any info about that?

Ask any modder worth his salt and he'll tell you that's simply untrue.
