About the "Update couldn't be found" error

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 1:25 am

After going through a lot of troubleshooting and then simply not downloading the update, so no XBL during this, I found out the game is perfectly fine with that error not showing up without the update.

Also this issue doesn't occur if you don't have that disc installed (even though they recommended to install it)

But, like I said, that means that you can't be connected to Xbox Live.

So what was in the update that would create this issue?

I do think the game was great but the ending
Spoiler
was really anti-climactic and seemed like it was missing some big confrontation with the Authority's leader, General Cross
but something like this being caused by the update just seems idiotic. How would this even get though testing? It is such an easy thing to recreate.

Anyone have a "true" solution to this?

I do have all 3 discs installed and I know that you can just load the next disc from the dashboard and the game is fine but this is pretty annoying with not being able to use the game as it is supposed to be used.

I'm having the same issue and to be honest, it's getting a bit irritating.

As stupid as this may sound: I just ignored the issue, started the 2nd disc from the xbox dashboard and chose "continue" (which loads the begin disc2 autosave saved at the ending of disc 1) from Rage's main menu and it worked flawlessly. Maybe Rage disc 2 is trying to load the same patch again it did when starting up the first disc for the first time.

My advice: ignore it!

Refer to this post. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1236204-rage-support/page__view__findpost__p__18744711

Other than having to restart the game, you shouldn't have any problems once you switch the disc.
