I accidentally my floor

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 6:54 am

I was messing with the console trying to customize my house and i accidentally deleted a floor..
i'm in Solitude's Proudspire Manor
the ID of the missing floor area is 5f12a
i tried the resetinterior command, enable command, placeatme, player.placeatme, nothing worked..
i'd really appreciate some help, a giant hole in my house is kinda... bothering me. thanks in advanced..

edit; I DELETED IT, NOT DISABLED IT.

Try in the console:
PRID 5F12A
enable
(not case-sensitive.)

At this point, I think you might find it more time consuming to fix than to just reload an earlier save. You've already tried everything I think that "could" work.
It svcks, I'm sure you got a lot of delicate stuff to redo if you was decorating a house, but it's not easy to replace structural objects in the right place, with just the simple console we have access to.

the thing is, the only save i have is from 3+ weeks ago.... or else i would have already loaded an earlier save.. that would make me lose like 20 levels, + all the money and eqp i'vegotten

Maybe try UNDELETE instead of enable?

To anyone else that reads this thread...Backup, Backup, Backup!

Especially before you go messing with stuff you don't fully understand.

You can always try verifying your cache or reinstalling the game (after moving your saves someplace safe) but if the delete is in your save then you may be out of luck.

Try in the console:
PRID 5F12A
enable
(not case-sensitive.)

it didn't do anything

What happens when you type what Kivan suggested? Does the formID show up on top of the console or is there an error message that says 'bla bla object reference ID not found bla bla script not saved'? If it does show up and you get no error message, type 'player.moveto 5f12a' in the console. If you end up in the space where the missing tile is the formID is correct and I have no idea why enable doesn't work. But if you end up somewhere else or if you get the error message the formID is wrong. In that case all you could do is guess by looking at the IDs around the empty spot. Sometimes the IDs are similar since they've been assigned one after the other, but of course you would need a bit of luck to find the correct one in that case (like if the next tile is 5f10a you could try 5f10b or c or d or whatever). But it may be worth a try.

With the CK you can definitely fix this (simply delete the floor tile in the CK and place a new one, save your mod), so it's probably the best solution (if none of the console commands work) to simply live with it until the CK is released later this month.

EDIT: Oh, and if it ever happens again don't panic, simply type enable as long as the formID is still there. But I guess with the CK you won't need the console anymore to decorate your house anyway.

On the save file issue, in your My documents/My games/skyrim/saves folder you should have not only 3 autosaves but also the 3 before them preserved as .bak files. just move your autosaves and remove the .bak extension from the backups and you should have a recent save from before you broke your house.

But it may be worth a try.

good plan, but if it comes to that I would suggest he load his save from 3 weeks ago () and find the refID by clicking the floor while it still exists, should be quicker and easier.

But where is the fun in that? If you finally find the correct formID all by yourself it's better than defeating Alduin! Or maybe my suggestion was indeed a bit dumb...ahem.

the autosaves overwrote themselves and i accidentally quick-saved. i've messed with the console before, so i didn't expect anything like THIS to happen..

when i do prid 5f12a it pops up at the top of the console "(0005f12a)[D]
when i type enable nothing happens, even if i reload 130292049 times
when i do the moveto it plops me in the center of the missing floor..
uhm, maybe enable isn't working because i DELETED the floor, like i said in my original post.... i was doing markfordelete and accidentally clicked on the floor instead of w/e it was i was aiming at..
maybe i should ask a different question -- how do i PLACE a floor? lols

This is the correct answer. Load that save, go to the same area, starting clicking things and disabling them until you find the one you want to restore, then load that save, open the console, and type "enable". I would suggest backing up your existing saves first but you've got this far so no reason to start now.

maybe you have difficulties understanding, maybe you don't know how to read, maybe you're just [censored] -- i've already DONE that. is my original post so long that you can't read every word written in it? i already USED the enable command on the missing piece of floor, it does NOTHING, probably because i never DISABLED it, i DELETED it. PLEASE, refrain from posting if you can't even read that that's already been TRIED.

Didn't your original post state that you "think" the id is...?

And why are you getting so rude about it? You're the one with the problem caused by your own ignorance yet you've decided that the best way to get assistance from other players (on their free time and to no benefit of their own) would be to be mean?

Nice job. I hope you get whatever you deserve.

yes, i did originally post that i "think" it is, but i have confirmed it,so i took away the "think". 2 seconds of looking at the thread and it's obvious i confirmed it, thanks to help from someone.
A problem caused by my own ignorance? The problem was CAUSED by an accident, though i'm sure to someone like YOU an accident and ignorance are the same thing.
the only person i was RUDE to was bluedanieru, who suggested the same thing 83985398342094 other people have suggested, some in this very thread, which does wear on my nerves, and in a much ruder way, which wore on my nerves even further. You're correct i'm going to be rude right back.
why are you even posting in this thread if it's not to help or contribute positively in some way? do you go around in every thread criticizing people? is that what makes you feel better about yourself? have you decided the best way to help people is be a dike in a thread you're not even a part of? kindly stop posting in threads where you're not wanted, thank you.

as for the problem, considering no one seems to know how to fix it, guess i'll just have a huge hole in the floor until CK comes out, no biggy(mostly), thanks to everyone who posted trying to actually help and not just posting the generic answer repeatedly. if you know of a way to fix it that hasn't been tried yet, by all means post it and i'll try immediately,
