Lol yeah a lot of people, myself included, tried. There's a whole thread about it. Shame on you Beth, for either not even thinking about him or just being d*cks and not letting us adopt the one homeless kid that was already in the game.

He wasnt homeless.

i've built all 3 houses and using them like this:
Lakeview Manor - real house with the kids, Mjoll and Lydia (library & alchemy)
Heljarchen Hall - the museum (trophy room and armory)
Windstad Manor - the store (greenhouse and kitchen)

thinking about allowing Ahtar to run the museum and i'll probably bring in Rayya to run the store.

Yeah seriously dude how the hell did you get those kinds of supplies?
Also, when you buy lumber while owning multiple plots of land, do you select which one they deliver it to?

My setup is

Lakeview manor: Full time home and my favorite, storage room, armory, and bedrooms for full house porch. Scenery is quite legit. Extra bedrooms so everyone has a bed.

Windstad manor: bedrooms, trophy room, kitchen. Love the view of solitude from bedroom porch!

The pale home: Fort home, all towers. Looks awesome! Might leave family there during dawnguard for extra protection.

Everything fully decorated. I love having all the top five heavy armors on display in my armory. Quite awesome looking.

I think Aventus's non-adoptability was probably an oversight. I'm sure a patch could be arranged. Might be on the way even now.

I hope so. I want that little psycho living in my house ;) Also, I haven't tried it yet, but does anyone know if when you go to Movarths Lair with the townspeople of Morthal, if you let Thonnir go inside with you then let him die, since his little boys mom was what's-her-face whom you have to kill in that quest, do you think you could adopt that kid?
