Acoustice Space Problem

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 7:43 pm

OK, I've been trying not to ask for help but this is maddening. I want to set up my dungeon so that when the player walks through a particularly cold area, he can hear the ice crackle and shift as I have done in many a skyrim cave. But I only know how to set a cells default acoustic space, not how to set one that's unique and local to a room or corridor. So I went to the Wiki, this is all I found http://www.creationkit.com/Acoustic_Space

It is infuriatingly "terse" as someone put it and doesn't bring me any closer to what I want to do.. And I can't seem to preview any sounds at all? that seems like a feature needed. So does anyone know how to make a local acoustic space?

The guy/team that works on the Sounds of Skyrim mod series are really friendly. They've responded even to ME. :P

Maybe try asking them if you run out of options. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

You can make specific room acoustic space, it's relatively simple. Click on the button "acoustic space" in the tool bar, and click where you want to place it in the preview window, select the acoustic space ambiance in the window that appears, adjust the box to your room you are done. You will have this ambiance when you are inside the box.

Edit : there is also a script "DefaultCameraAttachScript", it permits to have a cycling ambient sound and an effect that follow the camera, you can add drips sound and mist to the camera by example.

They should have just put an option for it in the roombound ref dialog like they did for lighting templates and imagespaces.

All of the sound markers have an accompanying sound descriptor which you can use to preview the sound. It works just fine for me. You don't even have to unpack the sound files like you did with the CS.

And if you think the wiki page for Acoustic Spaces is 'terse' now, you should have seen it before I expanded it.

[Edit: There, made a note on the wiki for future generations.]
