Activemovie window popup, and no music!

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:59 pm

I've been having strange issues with Fallout NV. While I play the game, there are these Activemovie windows that keep popping up whenever I enter a new area, and they take me out of the game. Furthermore, the game's music doesn't seem to work. It's strange because I do get sound jingles for entering combat, leveling up, and I hear music from radios I run into in the game. But the general music is never playing, nor music I play on the pip-boy radio (though I can hear Mr.New Vegas' news reports, just not the music he plays afterwards). Lastly, there seems to be some unspecified limit of areas I can go to before the game just up and crashes. Sometimes the game crashes immediately on startup, other times it crashes when I load my first area. There doesn't seem to be any predictable pattern.

I'm having pretty much no luck in even finding anyone else who has this "activemovie window" problem. Can somebody please help me?

Ok, so I've found out there is a correlation between the "activemovie window" popup, and what codecs I'm using. Still haven't been able to stop it completely, but I've reduced it tremendously by turning my video settings down to "low". Still don't know what's causing the music to not play, I've tried several of the audio fixes flying around and nothing seems to work.
