Actual khajiit claws

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 8:58 pm

Well since the khajiit has a claw attack I would like to see fearsome khajiit claws to go with it. Is this possible?

Yes it's possible. Could be as simple as a mesh edit to the fingers... Extent the fingernails and shape them into claws.

Yea, but it isn't really that simple. Yea, all you would need to is move some polygon's around, but that isn't the issue. Fact is, there are two models for the hands, 1st and 3rd person, and one of each for each gender. The weird thing is, there are also models that appear to be duplicates with different names ending in _1 or _0, but we, or at least I, don't know if that's what they really are. Moding that stuff can't be done yet so easily. That's unfortunate.

These denote the two extremes of the body type gradient. You can see the difference more clearly if you compare the two variants of the 3rd person body meshes. I can't imagine it being too much trouble to mod that, actually. The body type gradient should function automatically.

Personally I would like to see the beast races to have proper beast feet as well. In general, the races feel much too similar, both in appearance and racial traits/abilities. Regarding the gameplay It doesn't really matter which race you choose right now. It would add a level of complexity (and thus longevity) to the game if the choice of race would impact gameplay in a more meaningful way.

Bracers also have separate hand meshes that are universal. So the claws will go away once you put on bracers.

Yea that's true, but I don't think it matters too much... Perhaps some "Clawed" variants of the gloves can be made...

This is not so much related to their claws... but would it be possible for them to have a sprint animation (and sneak) on all fours? :)

Sorry to derail the 'claws thread' with this one.

Yeah, I'd like to have claws on both the khajiit and argonians.

Their bodies are not designed for that.

Sure, they're "beast races" but they're built entirely like humanoids. Plantigrade and upright. You'd just as well as see Nords trying to run on all fours as you would the Khajiit and Argonians in their current state.

Werewolves work for it because their forearms are longer and they are digitigrade.

Yes, I understand this... the question for me is if it's possible with the way the animations are rigged. And I suspect it is possible :P

The question will be...if it gets modified for Khajiits and argoninas, will it also modify the animations for the other races as well?

Same here. They don't need to be digitigrade. They just need to look more cat/lizard-like. Probably easier to implement than digitigrade too, since you wouldn't need to modify every piece of armor in the game to keep them like that.

This is the worst case scenario, I guess. This will mean, putting the mod ON only when playing with a beast race. The sneak on all fours it's not that bad no matter the race. And the sprint... I didn't see any of the NPCs sprint... maybe with the exception of that Golden Claw thief. No other NPC that I saw in the game till now have used sprint.

Enemies will sprint to catch up with you if you start to kite them a la Benny Hill.

Claws where pretty simple to make in Oblivion, just add them in with the tail mesh that way they show up no matter what your wearing. Only issue is them pokeing through gloves and such, but really they would do that anyways if you had claws and gloves on lol.
But I havent bothered to dig around in the meshes yet for Skyrim.
