Add racial perks in SkyEdit?

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 7:39 am

I'm trying to give all races/NPC's a perk I created in SkyEdit. I tried to add it in the Race menu as I would add a spell or shout, but it doesn't want to list. Am I missing something?

It's a little more convoluted than that, but I've done it for my Wood Elf Racial abilities mod. The Spells/Shouts slot only accepts spells and shouts. So you can do one of two things. The quickest:
  • Create an effect that has the Perk slot referencing the new perk
  • Add the MGEF to the RaceWoodElf spell (or which ever races you need)

Alternatively you could ...
  • Create an effect that has the Perk slot referencing the new perk
  • Create a spell that adds the effect
  • Add the spell to the Race
If you need something for reference, check out my Wood Elf Racial Abilities mod, http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=6769.

Got it, thanks!
So I just need to "piggyback" the perk onto a spell, then add it to the races, correct? :-)

Pretty much. That's how I've achieved it so far and piggy backing perks via spells can actually be pretty helpful under certain conditions.
