Adding ffa PvP to the mega servers.. A solution

Post » Sun Aug 18, 2013 8:23 pm

The problem with turning the whole gameworld PvP, is that it will hurt 90% of the playerbase because thet dont like to be continously ganked.

But then, i would really love to see an open version of the world at max level, or just available from level 20 with auto adjusted levels, where everyone can meet anyone and go kill everyone they want.. lets say just a PvP version of the world... you dont have to go there, but if you want realisme you can go there.. so basically this would mean that there would be 4 versions of every alliances zone,

the normal zone,
the level 50 zone,
the level 50++ zone and the
PvP zone...
( and offcourse cyrodiil )

and it would even be better if they added some content specifically to aliiance based PvP to these zones and some dynamic events based on PvP...where people could join one of 2 fighting parties... they just need to add the content and the rules... and use the areas they allready build for the world. And then add a murderer/criminal system to it, as you should not be allowed to kill anyone withouth a price outside the war zones (Cyrodiil) If i have a dark elf that wants to kill the whole polulation of Daggerfall one by one, that should be possible, but he surely would be on NPCs and player characters most wanted lists.

Its not an easy thing to do, because it would require them to develope sepperate content for this part of the world, but i yhink it would sattisfy everyone in the end.

There is no excuse not to really consider this, as it must be possible without to many problems as far as my understanding of he mega server technology goes.

Okay, its a compromise, i think everyone can live with, maybe they can add this some time after release, because we do not want release to be prospond any further.

I don't fully understand what you are asking.

I don't understand. You want another zone for pvp besides Cyrodiil? Why can't people understand how big Cyrodiil is?

Okay... the mega server as we know it is just a bunch of instances/channels of every zone... this way they can add different content to a zone withouth changing it.. They did this by making sepperate versions of each zone for leveling, for 50+ and 50++ content...

So my solution is make another version of the world thats fully open and fully PvP.. If people want it they can go there, if not they go to the standard PvE version of that zone for their alliance..

It would be just like PvE and PvP servers in a standard MMo, but with the mega server technollogy you would be able to choose to go PvE or PvP at any moment you want... you could swap to the PvP version at any Wayshrine...

Cryodiil is 2/3 of one faction. But that really has little to do with the point.

It has a lot to do with the point. There is no need for a new zone when there is already a massive battleground.

How is it not massive? It's almost as big as an entire alliance territory.

How much bigger do you need?

We have to remind that we won't have access to 100% of the homelands. But Zenimax didn't say that we won't get 100% of Cyrodiil at release.

The OP is just asking for FFA preferences in the megaserver-options. So an FFA instance will be created for the zone.

There wouldn't be a 100% copy of the full world since certain mapzones are still instanced. So you'd enter a FFA-instance instead if you would like to.

The problem with FFA options is the same as with alternate battlegrounds or scenarios. It draws away players of a zone which is specially designed for PvP. Zenimax focuses to balance the AvA in Cyrodiil by ignoring alternative PvP. In case for AvA its just boring fighting as the common underdog or the usual superpower faction because other factions could be underdogs.

Homelands, or "PvE zones" are adjusted for PvE. NPC spots, quests, terrain, those most important things are designed for exploration and PvE. The usual stuff you did in previous TES games.

Other PvP areas would not just draw people from one hotspot for PvP, they are probably even not designed for PvP, which means that there could still be places, zones, areas, spots and so on where exploiting and abuse could reign FFA PvP.

Cyrodiil is the connection between TES-standards and RvR.

1. Its your immersion and understanding of the lore. There are books and stories in TES games which tell you about huge wars and a lot of death. But the real fights you saw in previous TES games were even smaller than you could experience it in the current state of Cyrodiil.

2. How MASSIVE it really is will turn out at launch.

i don't need cyrodiil to be bigger, i want to be able to roleplay a bandit/thief/assassin anywhere in tamriel. i'm not the type that goes ganking noobs, i'm usually helping the underhanded.

It has nothing to do with lore. What you mean is that it destroys previous gameplay mechanics. You wanting to be able to kill everybody you see and go everywhere you want to go has nothing to do with lore. Gameplay mechanics change with each game, you're going to have to accept that.
