Adding playable instruments, among other things...

Post » Mon Mar 25, 2013 8:29 pm

Honestly, even if it was ever in a few mmos, those little things made those games very enjoyable. If elder scrolls online adds things like playable instruments, and even other things like being able to sit down, that would be nice, as I consider these little things in a game a vital part of what makes elder scrolls, elder scrolls.

Sure, there wasn't instruments in elder scrolls(at least, to the best of my memory), but it'd be a really nice thing I'd like to see in this game as well.

There is a College of Bards in Skyrim and instruments scattered throughout the world. However, I am torn on the subject of playable instruments. Music is such a big part of immersion and so hard to ignore that I am not sure I want to give that power to players. So often in LOTRO, the only game I have experienced this system, people were playing modern classics or mashing notes at random. It far out weighed the one or two times it actually made a welcome addition for me.

Sitting is great though. Even before I knew what roleplaying was I would always logout of MMOs in an inn and sat down. It just felt more natural and as if I had some consideration for this adventure that spent the whole day on her feet!

I say, give it to the players, and if need be, put an optional mute in place for specifically one person, or for all when you just don't want to hear it, and harsh punishment for those who abuse instruments to harass as you would any form of harassment.

I had experience in Mabinogi(I cannot tolerate most f2p's mind you, and I had friends who wanted to play on there so it wasn't that bad... I just want that made clear) and well, while that wasn't the best of communities, of the few things it did right, the people there would get together sometimes and play what they have composed. Or simply a few nice strangers here and there would entertain, and I of course, donated a little something(they seemed to needed it at the time).

And by sitting, you mean like, sitting in chairs right? Not just the typical /sit thing?

Or just make the instruments mutable, like you can click on whoever is trying to annoy everyone and mute them (from your gameworld).

Yup, that was the idea I meant, though unfortunately I forgot to change my wording on that part, and went back to change it, as you can see.
