Adding wav files for voices

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:49 am

I can't get the CK to save my recorded voice file and I also want to employ some friends to do some voice acting in the future.

How do I add external voice files (wav) to my module?

I second this, its driving me crazy. There is a tut over at the creation kit site and that's all the info I can find about how to do it. but its pretty vague at the end. no exporting or anything. doesnt say where to upload the files etc.

It seems like a pretty standard thing to be able to do. Cant believe I havent worked it out yet. Ive probably got 8 hours in this problem already.

Damn that kinda blows, I know people have added their own music files and such to mods, it doesn't seem that this would be much different.

Of course this issue could be fixed if the CK would just save my recorded voice for the purpose of completing the tutorial.

When you say you saved it, you clicked the "save" button and nothing happened? Did a file appear in the box above the recording buttons? Not saying you may have missed that, but that file makes adding a wav easy.

I clicked the save button and absolutely nothing happened. The bottom of the CK says "Generating lip file" and then "done!" but nothing actually seems to be saving nor do I have anything in the box above the record button.

I'm going to close the CK and try again.

But that still doesn't help when I want to add other people's voices to quest givers/NPCs in the future, how would i go about doing that?

The way I did it was I just replaced the file that the CK generated with the wav. That's why I asked if a file was there. Check the sound folder in the data folder and see if there's a folder that shares the name of your .esp. It'll probably be in the "voices" folder.

I should also tell you that I'm new to the CK and this is the first and only time I've added voice files. So, if my method isn't working, I don't think I can help you. I can try, though!

In my Skyrim\Data\Sound\Voice there is one file called temp.wav which is the recorded audio I made with the CK.

and a Processing folder with temp_resampled_audio.wav which is also the one I recorded.

No file with my mod name on it.

I have a similar problem: I can record voice, but I can't preview it, however the file exsists in my skyrim folder, and it's working too. Despite these facts I can hear nothing from the NPC, also the dialogue lines changes extremly quick, making impossible to read them.
Any ideas how could I make it work?

I guess having the file saved does nothing when a path isn't showing up for the response. Huh. I'm going to open the CK and take a quick look. Not promising anything, but I'd like to help you solve this if I can. It would also help in case I came across the problem, too.

Thank you so much for your help, it's quite annoying to not even be able to record a blank file for the purpose of reading the text.

Okay, since I'm running out of time, for now I'm just going to go through a step by step of how I got it working. Including things you probably don't have to do.

>Opened the Response menu for the specific Response ("Edit Response")
>Made Response
>Closed Menu
>Opened it again
>Made sure my input device was selected in "Configure" and hit "Record"
>Recorded voice file
>Tested with the "Preview" button - worked
>Hit "Save"
>File path was generated in the list above, and a file was named under "Voice Filename"
>Test voice file by double clicking on the directory - it worked
>Friend gave me Voice Overs
>Converted those to a .wav with Audacity
>Put them in the directory that the "Edit Response" menu gave me earlier, and named them to replace the previously created file
>Went back to "Edit Response" Menu, created LIP file using "Generate LIP" and "From WAV"
>Tested the voice file by clicking the directory - worked
>Saved
>Loaded up game
>All was well

If you're doing all of this (except for maybe Audacity and friend's VO's, not important) then I'm stumped as is. If nothing is solved by tomorrow, I'll get on here and try and continue to help.

Yeah it's still not working, it's like it refuses to simply save the file permanently.

I've tried adding files to the directory and telling the ck to locate the file I saved but still nothing.

I wished there was an option to tell it where to store the files.

When i click the "configure" button and select my sound driver, the next box pops up and "Salect Audio Format" but there is no option to select the input format and the only thing I can do is hit the cancel button. If that helps.

HA! I figured it out! Apparently I never set the voice default for the NPC who was to give me the quest when i created the NPC, now i have a voice selection in the box for him.

Man, thank you SO much for your help, I know noobs can be a pain sometimes. TY!
