Is advanced armor required to forge Dragonplate?

Salutations,

Since advanced armor allows you to forge plate armor, are we required to have advanced armor to forge dragonplate?

Or, for that matter, when a perk has two "branches" leading up to it, is it necessary to learn BOTH branches in order to learn that perk (so in this case, glass smithing and daedric smithing?).

Thank you.

I'm pretty sure it just has the two branches because the left hand side of perks deal with light armour and the right hand heavy, and Dragon Bone/scale has both light and heavy variants.

So I'm pretty sure if you're making the heavy variant, you only need the Daedric smithing perk.
