Advanced cover-system in Crysis 2?

Post » Sun Jul 11, 2010 1:41 am

What do you think about the cover-system in Crysis 2? Will there be the same system
as in mass effect 2, rainbow six vegas 2 or splinter cell conviction with leaning against your cover?

I have never played any of those games, but I remember reading somewhere that Crysis 1 (Or crysis wars, I don't remember) had a very bad leaning system. You could poke out a pixel of your head, and you can see everyone, but nobody can see you.

why you you make a example with 3rd person shooter?
you should compare with first person games with cover system
like KillZone 2

true. I liked killzone 2's cover system. But ONLY if your nanosuit's power will get drained with a single bullet. If they changed this then I could care less about the cover. Still though, I'd like to see the cover system in KZ2 in C2.

+1

Third person and First person cover systems are drastically different.

Maybe I've overlooked this, but I haven't seen any Crysis 2 gameplay footage where your character use cover? I only saw this one Cry Engine 3 tech demo with a Crynet soldier ducking for cover behind an object, but that was it.

So do you even have the ability to take cover? Or is it only your enemies that will be able to use cover to make it harder for you?

Well, the cover we are seeing in Crysis 2 is unlike the ones in third person games. It is not likely a snap to cover mechanic, which would hamper with fluid gameplay in an FPS like Crysis

You can slide into cover and than lean and peak L, R or over the top of things. Here is a link to show you...

Hopefully it's more easier to use than what Killzone 2 offered. My, it was just horrible using the cover system in their. I'm glad it's not exactly going to be the same for Crysis 2.

They developed a cover system for both you and the AI. I'm pretty sure they implemented it so that the player can lean, slide, use and assasinate easier with a GamePad

Chances are the cover system will be like killzone 2's cover system just more smoother. Either way cover is for cowards.

I don't mind cover, I just hate when a game forces an advanced cover mechanic on you when the normal method of crouching behind something where I can actually pop my head up and look works just fine.

As long as it doesn't suffer from Vegas2 syndrome that way, I don't care if some other guy wants to take longer lining up a shot because he grabbed a wall and I just ducked. More kills for me.

Hiding behind an object to avoid bullets.

Also, the lean mechanic is returning for crysis 2.
