AdventureQuest discussion thread

Welcome to the first AdventureQuest thread.

In this thread we will discuss AdventureQuest even though a lot of you will probably not know it.

AdventureQuest can be played for free! You can create an account http://www.battleon.com/aq-signup.asp?friend=23046452.
To fully unlock all features you will have to pay a one-time fee of 20$ though.

What exactly is AdventureQuest?

AdventureQuest is a browser-based RPG, with its own unique style and puns, lots of puns.
It was designed by Artix Entertainment, and was the first game the company made. Throughout the years it has not really become any easier to describe though. Try these links for people who do a better job at it than me.

Basically, just to kick things off: What do you guys think of the reward update? Good, bad, a little bit too much perhaps?

I played that game once, then could never log in again.

Played it before, I actually paid for that thing giving you login priority.
Grew tired of it, never looked back. Found better games to play. And after Fablequest (or whatever it was called) came out, I played that. It gave you more freedom after all.

I've seen those obnoxious ads for what feels like over a decade. I've just written it off as another trashy browser game not worthy of my attention, much less my wallet.

The game is outdated yes, but also something unique.

It is a bit like Morrowind really if you played Oblivion or Skyrim prior to it. A raw gem, if you will but certainly beautiful if you take the time to sharpen it.

It's okay for a browser-based MMO, I guess. Played it for a bit with a friend a while back, but lost interest. I'd never actually pay money for any of the content, which is probably why it grew stale so fast.

It is a single-player RPG actually, albeit with some 'MMO-elements' like when players have to work together to achieve a certain goal.

Artix Entertainment did make an MMO though, but that is AQworlds and if you ask me less fun. AdventureQuest is actually a great stress-reliever.

I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favourite internet game on the Citadel.

Yeah sure, which is why I made 500+ posts on this forum.
To tell you the truth, I was hoping there was more love for those games here, this community is pretty neat.

That's still around? I was pretty addicted to AQ years back, but got annoyed with how much was capped by the subscription fee; the free game came to more and more resemble just a demo, which is fine, but not something that's going to hold my attention forever. With how few games I got per year, my money went elsewhere instead of a browser game. If it's still going, I may take a look at what's changed in the years since I left.

You seem to take great pride in it.

But yes, I'll agree AQ is not that much fun without upgrading.

I sure do. Add some salt and whatever they put in Taco Bell's food that gives people explosive diarrhea and you've got yourself a fine Sub Sandwich.
