Advice needed!

Hi guys I'm a lvl 54 imperial playing with axe and shield wearing double enchanted deadric armour I'm on the trap a dragon mission on the main quest and finished the companion quest line and to be honest with all my bonuses to heavy armour and block etc I'm pretty much invincible so I've decided to do the Mage quest line for a bit of variety. My dilemma is I can't wear robes cos my magic is weak ass so I'm running about in enchanted dragon armour and my magic lvls are low 30 and hardly damaging enemies so what do u suggest? Stick with it and lvl up my magic or stick with what I know best and go back to hack and slash? At my lvl it takes ages to lvl up so skill points are few and far between but I seriously don't wanna create a Mage class and start back at lvl 1 just to enjoy the change :(

I guess you can grind up some soul gems and level your enchanting, put badass OP enchants on heavy armor and level up your magic.
Also, if you have Dragonborn expansion,
Spoiler
you can reset your skill points after finishing MQ.

I would suggest doing a couple bounty quests. Go in with your armor, because you need it, but try and damage enemies with magic and then finish them with your Axe. It will take a lot to level up your magicka to what your weapon and armor skills are, but it's the only option. If you have a decent Alchemy skill you can down fortify potions to help with damage output.

Edit: There is nothing wrong with running from an enemy to let your magicka recharge. It's what Mages do best anyway. :)

get rid of the shield, replace it w/ a school of magic, keep the axe for back up.

Depending on what you've disenchanted, you can boost your spell casting abilities by double enchanting a ring and necklace each with 'fortify spell school' and 'fortify magicka'. With 100 enchanting this gives an additional 124 magicka and 50% spell cost reduction. You can create these for as many spell schools as you're interested in.

That way you can keep your existing armor and weapons.

You could also consider getting the mage stone for a learning boost.

My enchanting is 100 my alchemy is 79 my one handed is 94 my heavy armour is 125 with buffs and my block and speech craft are 100 at the moment I'm using bound sword and and a fire/ice/lightning in the other but my magic is so weak it hardly touches enemy health I like to summon but my familiar only takes one hit before dying how do I make summons stronger?

well, if you have enchanting on 100 then you can reduce the magicka costs for all magic schools significantly. i would start out with conjuration (if you wish to go that way), the summoned creatures will tank for you while you use destruction, though maybe not the novice spell. Conjuration is easiest to level when you use bound weapons in the beginning, preferably 2 x 1 hand (dual wield). as someone said before, keep your heavy armor, it makes no difference when using magic when you enchant it properly.
