Aetherium items.

So it's my understanding that there is a staff, a shield and a crown.

Can someone explain what each do?

The Crown retains bonuses from Stones so you can have two effects at the same time. If you bash anyone with the shield they turn ethereal for 15 seconds so they can't hit you nor can you hit them. The staff summons the Dwarven spiders for 60 seconds IIRC.

The staff enables you to summon dwemer centurions even the spiders. The crown grants you the last birthstone effect you had before you changed to your current one. And when you bash with the shield it turns all enemies ethereal, making them unable to attack.

Okay, not to keen on the shield effect. Sounds more irritating than useful, Auriel's shield seems more useful.

I think I'll go for the crown then, seems the best option.

Yeah, Auriel's Shield is the funner of the two. The Aetherium shield is more of a last-resort-gotta-get-out-of-here thing.

Does the crown look good?

Is it considered armor like the diadem of the savant?

Hmm. So the crown lets you stack Standing Stone bonuses?

Are they cumulative? For example, Lover's Stone + Warrior/Thief/Mage?

The crown is a passive effect. I think it allows you to have 2 powerstones at once.

You have to be wearing the crown while you change to the Birthstone you want, allowing you to have the previous stone and the current stone.

The crown basically looks like a standard silver one with a few extra blue stones placed upon it. And in the dark, the stones have a subtle glow to them. Nothing that would give you away, but you can tell the crown isn't just ordinary too. I really like it.
