In the first Crysis on the Carier they say that the "Mountain" Structure send an Signal in the direction of of some Star system a few milion light years away (there home planet)
Since the Aliens in Part one had been on the island for way before humans ever existed, the Aliens that responded to the Signal have difrent technology (more advanced) and now attack earth.
How the signal went faster than the speed of light remains a mistery to e, but maybe the Aliens that came where closer by earth in a mothership or something, like 1 to 1.5 lightyears away and there ship was capable of (near) lightspeed.

Maybe they just have a superiority complex (and as such view us as insignificant) and want natural resources, although that wouldn't explain why the ones already on Earth just sat there long enough for a mountain to form around them.

My theory is the aliens are after electricity.In the first game they svcked every possible source of energy and got stronger gradually,hell they consumed an entire nuke.Since New York consumes more electricity for a city on EARTH the aliens attacked it.

Indeed so it started welcoming them in the way that they welcome us. Unfortunately, turns out what we fire at them actually kills them as opposed to making them feel all fuzzy. After the first 'hello's' we did realise we should've used their hello machines, but now the aliens kind of hate us :/

They're so damn picky, you accidentally kill a few dozen of them and suddenly they declare 'war against earth'. Drama queens.

You know what I think? I think they want to find twinkies. They ran out of them on their home world so now they have come to take ours. They are violent because we refused to share so now they are taking them by force. That is why your mom always says to share. is that what they were doing? I didnt really understand cuz in that cutscene it lagged like crazy I understood some of it but thx for clearing that up

The crysis end game was so cliffy that I thought it would end there, but as I can see; their back and they have legs!!! though they don\'t look as tough as the ones I see in recent alien movies.

Yes its true that they sent a signal to (presumably there homeworld), the point is, maybe it didnt just start happenin, but has been transmitting nearly as long as they have beeen here, that would mean that others were allready on the way to rescue or whatever.

Dont forget they did also have Prophet for a while, and maybe gathered a great deal of intel from the suit linkup, i also reckon that the gathered intel, anol or suit probe, make yr choice? has led the Aliens to rethink thier strategey, and go on foot so to speak, as air targets are easy stuff to handle, an they seen we get better chance on ground to hide and stuff

Clearly we owned em, with the Nano suit 1, hence the need to study Prophets suit, now remember the green jellyfish dudes in the mountain with the deads, and compare em to some of the new Alien footsoldiers,

My view is, it took em 3 years to adapt thier tech, and create what they presume to be a superior fighting force, so they now intend to own us and our Nano Suit force, perhaps after including some of our Nano suit tech we might even find they got some added features built into their suits also, just a thought?

Overall, ifn we had just left them alone, then maybe they wuda just been rescued, but those damm Koreans love a bit of action, hence the present conflict as we saw it develop, and got dragged into it, now we gotta deal with it and see what happens.

New York isnt the biggest City in the world ( that would be Tokio-Yokohama with about 40 Million people) and the aliens sure dont have the same romantic feeling about NY as humans would do.
Downtown NY is also not a good strategic point for the military.
So the only more or less reasonable solution left would be that NY is the last major City that isnt destroyed yet. But even that lacks some sense. Why isnt New York evacuated earlier ? Why does the military still fight in NY despite that there is nothing left to fight for?
