Here we are. Awaiting the eventual news of our most beloved title's fate.
Is it, as Mr. Cheever stated once, "like tears in the rain"?
Who knows. It's a shame to see a completed game go belly up over such childish squabbles on Bethesda's part.
To think that the ambition and dedication that Human Head put into their game, being EXACTLY what us fans wanted, could never be released, is a sad notion.
Even the special addition sets that Cheever hinted at were exactly what I, as a major Alien Noire aficionado, would want if the game got its most desired release.
Why this game? Of all the games that could potentially be cancelled, spliced, transplanted, and rebuilt; why this one?
There have been much worse titles that received much better treatment than this one and yet Bethesda CONTINUES TO NEGLECT THE POTENTIAL THAT PREY 2 HAS IN ITS CURRENT BUILD.
You can say that I am beating a dead horse but some people are not willing to let possibly the most amazing game they've ever witnessed be washed away; down the gutters like an old cigarette but.
Prey 2's entire atmosphere, mechanics, story, and legacy is one that the gaming industry has never seen before. How could Bethesda possibly bring themselves to neglect such beauty in form you say?
It's a very simple summation.
Money.
Money is what corrupts them from the inside out; where passion for truly unique games and honor in artistic expression get thrown out the window.
They would rather cast out years of sci-fi goodness in favor of a bland bastardization of a game that once reigned supreme in the sci-fi universe.
How dare they neglect the voices of those who ask for very little in return.
Is this a manifesto? No.
Merely an observance of the injustices waged by the wicked.
As the years go on, the gap closes thin on the possibility for truly good games to reach the surface while publishers act as arrogant Gatekeepers; sniffling around for more money. Like they don't already have enough to squander on
worthless pursuits of grandiosity; presenting such mundane games to a tasteless society of pallid incompetence.
The meek and doddering must end.
Am I alone left to create the games that others are not able to because big brother gets jealous?
You know, It is quite sad when a developer creates a masterpiece, supporting all the elements you've ever wanted in that sort of game, and it gets locked away on some hard drive. Never to be released.
A tad redundant yes. But not overemphasized.
I will never forget about what Prey 2 was or what it could have been.
I only wish that I could bask upon the vision that the likes of Cheever and Blair have.
I am sure it defines Alien Noire in ways no other game could have.
