All about the hair.

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 12:43 pm

Hello dwellers of this forum.

I come to you all with a question, because if its one thing that I have learned after all my many years here, its that you all know random, seemingly pointless information normal people would never even be curious about. I'm twenty years old right now and I have long, Jesus-like hair... and this is where my woes begin. You see, due to me having long hair is starting to become apparent that one side has become a little more..... thin on hair then the other. There was a period of time where I was stressed and didn't sleep properly, so when I combed, washed my hair and such, there tended to be a lot of hair in the comb if you get what I mean. Now, there's no history of early balding in my family; and its not really all that noticeable that one side is a little thinner on hair then the other..... but its starting to worry me.

So my question is, will this hopefully just get better on its own or am I screwed and going to slowly go bald from this point onward... starting from the hair on the right side of my head?

It will probably be fine, but the hair on the right side will need some time to grow back.

Comb your hair with the other hand. You will thin the other side so it looks even. If you split it on the left instead of middle, split it on the other side. :woot:

Sorry, but your post made me laugh.

Since it's only one side you could always get yourself an combover.

But seriously, it's probably nothing serious. Hair loss usually starts by the temples, and since you've got Jesus hair it's not strange that you find alot of hair in the comb. I'm not sure why one side is thinner than the other though.. maybe you just should cut your hair? It would definately make it easier detecting any potential hair loss.

braid it. then growl at anybody that looks at you funny. a braid lasts a few days, and when done right is less stress on the hair.

I'm sure it only seems that way. I've never even heard of anything like that happening.

My hair has always been thinner on the left side of my head, and from what I've heard, everybody has a side that is thicker than the other. Our bodies are not mirror images. We also have a slight size difference in our feet, which is why you should try on both shoes when buying a pair. I wouldn't worry about the thinness on one side. I just part my hair on the right so that it is more evenly balanced in thickness. :) ( I seriously doubt you will bald on one side and have thick lush hair on the other :P)

Sometimes I thank my ancestors for my thick blonde German hair. And both my brothers seem to got my dads balding gene why I seem to have got my mom's thick full hair.

If you are balding mate, please just shave it. My dad tried the balding + long hair thing....it was bad.

It could be that you were just being too tough on your hair, either by scratching your scalp too much, or by taking a brute force approach to combing. If so, it'll grow back fine, after you change your behavior. If not, rogaine.

Just don't worry about it. Not only will worrying make it worse, life is just too damn short. I have been pulling loads of hair out every time I brush, for almost 30 years, and haven't run out yet, and my hair is at least a foot or so long at all times.

You could try brushing it to one side. That certainly looks better than the whole 'curtains' look. Also be sure to not brush it so far that you have a comb over. :P

same for me, my hair is thinner on one side than the other. I believe it's normal though, most people have hair that is thinner on one side than the other. It used to worry me too, but seeing as how I've yet to bald I don't really care anymore.

About 20% of white men begin to bald by age 20 and it increases by about 10% for each decade.

It would help if you clarified which hair you speak of.

Ugh, don't even talk to me about hair right now man. Just got a haircut and I hate getting haircuts, not that i hate having short (well at least not too short) but I always hate the way it turns out looking. I always have a look in mind (even showed the woman who cut my hair a picture) and it never turns out right because my hair is too thick, always standing out on the sides and such. I always hate it but it turns out looking decent about two weeks later when I've let it grow out a bit.

Don't want to do anything too drastic right now though, plan on shaving all my hair off in the summer (I really like to work out in the summer and hair is annoying when sweaty), if I like the way it looks I may keep it really short for a while.

Also good luck with your hair, if it turns out too bad you could also just shave your head, may hurt at first but it's better than having one really thin-haired side on your head.

That may be true, but I suspect that 57.7 % of all statistics are made up.
