all dlc this year will come from game jam? seems a little co

Post » Sat Sep 01, 2012 9:32 am

I am a little bit saddened by the potential of this game and I believe i heard something about only 3 dlcs will be released for skyrim
which brings me to thinking

Is everything we will be getting as DLC for SKYRIM gonna be old used ideas from company workers 10 months ago?
which most pc modders can do and probably didnt require any schooling in development just a few good ideas with a great creation kit?

and like every game from bethesda only 1 dlc will be worth anything
I hated dawnguard but bought it and i will hate hearthfire but i most likely will buy it too but Only because the game svcks without the game content that should have been there in the release

so Im wondering if we will ever get fresh content or will it always be recycled from gamejam?

I thought we would recieve most of the game jam stuff as patches to you know patch the game where it was not finished like the werewolf and vampire tree which should have been in vanila but money is too important so you just rush it out and add the fixes later as DLC and make more cash

Very sad concept of making well earned money

THANK you.

Been trying to say this for weeks now but nobody listens....
Adoption gets previewed 9 months ago, fast forward to now and we still only have human children and they all have the same face and haircut? Feels hella lazy to me, dunno why others would disagree.

I believe they said around 5 big DLC, with small stuff in between.

And smaller stuff from Gamejam will probably be added via patches (Like mounted combat/Magic killcams etc)

I dont think they have enough from Gamejam to make 4 more big DLCs out of.

I hope that your right about the amount of dlc because if they dont do something fresh and good I think they will lose many devoted ES fans by the end of this ride

also do you have a link for info on amount of dlc or is it speculation
Myself I concidered dawnguard a dlc not a expansion pack

in my eyes Knights of the nine was a dlc shivering isles was a expansion

neither dawnguard or hearthfire should have been there at release. if it was shown in trailers or mentioned then yer it should have, but there was no mention of it until gamejam. also gamejam was only a week long, do you really think all the features would have worked well? plus, dawnguard had alot of features not in the gamejam and hearthfire probably will too. gamejam was probably just to find out the most popular ideas. & why's it matter if the ideas are old? the more content, the better

the reason it matters is because like you said it took one week to do those things in gamejam
skyrim was rushed out without many things
proper magic destruction has i think 12 spells in total which is a sad magic spec that should be the most powerful
there was no mounted combat until patch1.6
missing skill trees later added in dawnguard that should have been in vanilla

so what has everyone been doing with there thumb up there butts for 10 months?
its not that hard to create a spell tree and stick it in a database add visuals for actions in the db and have it link together
the harder part is making it work flawlessly but usually doesnt take more than a couple weeks to tweek it
so Does this mean that Todd Howard is doing all the programming himself?

most things are able to be added by modders on PC and I have done some modding in the past so with that in mind Ill tell you i never went to school for computer development in game mechanics

I agree. Where are unique ideas? Isn't that their job? Many people here keep spilling that crap "it's only $5/$10 what more do you want out the dlc?"

I want bug fixes, content that should've been in the game to start, and NEW content. Custom player homes should've been in game to start, and add ons should be out now. Dawnguard was a nice DLC, but left me with more open questions than answers. I mean c'mon, two HUGE castles just magically appear? The Dawnguard fortress is more understandable but the fact the lame vampiywampy castle just pops up off shore and such... with no one outside of the DLC noticing it...

And I'd like to point out how PC Modders can make WAY better content in a week than Beth can in 3 months. Or however long these dlcs take.

Thank you ,This is the exact thing im trying to point out and the fact is that bethesda should know more about things than a modder
be able to add things a modder cant and make a better story than a modder

And these dlcs are ok and all if it were made by a modder or someone on there spare time sure like gamejam but seriously I dont think hearthfire is really much better than a mod given away on steam

why cant bethesda just do a day once in a while to grab a mod and port it from steam or just put a few hours in aand give us a mod that is official but free , why does every content that adds something have to cost something when todd howard told us they would be adding some free bits here and there for us to keep us going until bigger dlc drops

now when todd said that he was not saying fixes and mounted combat but "something to keep us going until..... "

to me it sounds like hearthfire should have been one of those free bits '
and all these fan boys love to kiss butt and try to make it sound like bethesda are so awesome but in reality they are going back on things they said in the past

things like they would not do small content for skyrim they want it to be meaty bla bla bla now hearthfire a second rate dlc created in less than one week 10 months ago end of story

You would not believe how many times I've seen a single modder, create something better than the entire dev team could in months of work, in a week. Modders will ALWAYS produce better content than the actual developers.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if after Hearthfire get's released, some modder takes it, and adds children of all races, a build anywhere you want mechanic, (Like that Dwemer tower mod) multiple home styles, more wives, items, quests, etc. All within a month of release.

Probably right sad thing is they still wont allow us it for free
and as long as people buy crap like hearthfire, bethesda wont change there tune and will continue pumping out old and small stuff in nature just for a few more bucks

I think someone mentioned this already but they try so hard to keep things secret and

guess what???

fallout 4 is in development
either that or a miracle has happened and bethesda is working on a worthwhile DLC/expansion that has nothing to do with gamejam

and a message to bethesda
We all have seen gamejam vid 1000 times and we well i am ok with never seeing any of it again however
maybe if those ideas were used in the first 6 months i would still think its good but it has been over 9 months and i accept we may never see those things so how about making new stuff instead ? or if you do use those ideas maybe realize that it should be cheaper than usual due to the lack of support in keeping fans happy and letting us realize how lazy the people who work there are . i mean it takes 9 months to bring house building to skyrim when we seen it in gamejam 9 months ago WTF for real

I dont want future DLCs to be stuff from gamejam. Of course they could include stuff from gamejam, but shouldnt be built around it. Should just be something extra we get.

Probably because people expect waaay too much from a dlc for five bucks. How is this lazy? The point of gamejam was to think up ideas for dlc's, some that may or may not be used. If its a good idea, why wouldn't they do it?

I just now relized another thing someone said that there will be 5 dlc and i think /predict it will look like this

1 dawnguard / skilltrees for wolf and vamp amonst a questline
2 hearthfire 50 mb download or less lamest dlc ever alongside horse armor includes addoption and house building no known questline
3 will be based on spears
4 based on wearbears
5 based on something to do with dragon riding just a guess cus we seen dragon mounts in gamejam

so with my prediction we have just enough to do 5 dlcs in bethesdas eyes

no need for fresh ideas blablabla garbage

I remember before xbox live on pc there were real expansion packs and shivering isles was one of those kind of addons sometimes you would see 3 or 4 full length expansions for a game
since then we see the occational good dlc on games and I thought Bethesda stood apart from other money grabbing companys at least we use to get good content but seems more like they figured out that kids who play on xbox dont have to have money cus daddy and mommy will spend there hard earned cash on it for them and since parents dont see the content then who cares what is added as long as money is pileing into company bank accounts
