All-In-One Retro Console

Post » Sat Jul 13, 2013 8:44 pm

I remember seeing an article for this on IGN. It a games console that had six slots for all of the retro console cartridges, from the SNES, to the Genesis and even the N64. Google searches are only showing home-brew stuff, but this was properly produced by some company. Does anyone know what this is and where I can get one?

Isn't that just effectively an emulator with a port to read off of the original cartridges or does it properly run the games? Also, being from the UK, my cartridges are for the Mega Drive and not the Genesis. Was there an actual difference in terms of the slot?

My guess is that it runs the games better than an emulator. It also states in the article posted that it runs Mega Drive games.

Okay. Thanks. But, looking online, it seems just like an Android emulator that plays the game from a slot instead of illegally from a ROM stored on a USB, SD Card or HDD. Plus, at around $100 USD / £80 GBP, I'm not sure if it's worth the cost. I already own a Mega Drive and an N64, which are the two retro consoles I am mainly interested in. I just wanted a neater way to play them, instead of having a room filled with numerous consoles that are getting old and prone to breaking.

What way would be best to enjoy some retro gaming nowadays, in your opinion? I'm not a collector, so it isn't like having the actual console is of interest to me. I only got into gaming with the Xbox 360 era, meaning that I've missed out on many great games. Some, once you get past their graphics, are even better than those of today. I want to experience these, but as I said having numerous consoles all plugged in isn't too tidy. I'd prefer to keep the number of units sitting below my television to an absolute minimum.
