All My Questions for Eso and Mini Discussion

Post » Thu Nov 14, 2013 9:06 pm

So to cover everything in ESO. First off I will start by saying I'm a noob to Elder Scrolls and I've only played Skyrim. Why this is, I don't know :/ I guess I just heard a lot more about Skyrim than any of the other games. Anyways instead of making so many threads, decided to just include all questions i have in this thread, mainly about ESO. A bunch of you have been into the series much longer than me so it's always nice to hear some of your insights and views, especially since Elder Scrolls is full of diversity and conflicting ideals.

1. Will we see, or be able to create different types of Khajiit like the Ohmes-raht or Cathay-raht?

2. Thalmor question was already addressed but still wondering if they will have a quest line. (My hope is to actually become a Thalmor in ESO and poop on the nords)

3. I know in skyrim beasts never dropped equipment. So in ESO will beast-animal type bosses drop equipment or material to forge the equipment?

4. I still am a little confused about how Cyrodil works. Trust me I feel dumb for asking, but they mentioned people will join campaigns that last three months or so. Campaigns have a limit to a number of people. Soooo how exactly would you join, would it be like a queue and once in you can go to Cyrodil and war with the other alliance, quest, etc.? What about people that can't get into a campaign?

5. Will taverns be similiar to that in Skyrim? Or do you think they'll be overcrowded with people? I'd imagine this would be where most of the rpers would spend their time and mingle.

6. Animations. Can I sit down in a chair, drink some mead, etc.

7. If you put duels in game, why not make it interesting and the loser has to pay up ;D (just my opinion)

8. A player can be crowned emperor. Will this happen often or will it be more like "OH CRAP SO n SO BECAME EMPEROR!!!!!!! ALLIANCE PARTY IN CYRODIL!!!!" I'd imagine it being a bit difficult since you have to control all the keeps.

9. Why do people love nords so much?

10. I know little of daedric artifacts, but i do know there's only one of each (i think) lmao. They said daedric artifacts are in ESO...soooo how will that work? know what i'm sayin? ;[

11. I've watched shoddycast's videos and in it i believe he quoted zenimax in saying that there would be cosmetic doors in ESO. meaning doors that you won't be able to open, they're just for looks. Does this actually bother people?

If i think of more questions or ideas i'll just post them here, thanks everyone for taking time to read and answer some questions. If you do reply please don't say "google it", because chances are I did and just don't understand -____-

1. nope,

2. we have no idea, possibly FOR them, but highly unlikely we can join.

3. only testers and ZOS knows

4. you can ALWAYS get into a campaign, there is no "queue" your character goes to the edge of the map to Cyrodiil then is transported to a campaign that you are now a part of on that character until you pay money to switch to a different one. think of it as a PVP area with locked instances.

5. same as 3

6.as far as I know, no, there are emotes just not those ones.

7.NOPE

8.no idea, probably depends on how good the alliances are in that specifc instance.

9. Skyrim

10. For sake of gameplay, there will probably be more than one since each character is technically only in their own story for lore purposes.

you're always really quick and good on answering questions xD and the campaign you are locked into is kind of like a mission in the sense that you're assigned to hold a keep or resource as your main objective right?

and what's wrong with losing money for duels? i think it'd be fun lol

can you explain your answer for 8? O_o

The campaign is simply your instance of all of Cyrodil. You could go there just to sit around or even pve. You have no one singular mission there.

Also the Thalmor were not always as they were portrayed in Skyrim. They were not always so racist. Originally they were simply a proxy government set up by the Dominion in Valenwood (might have been Eslwyr). In Skyrim they were so racist that even other Altmer disliked them.

ohhhhh okay i get it now. haha man took me a while xD

Yeah i read about that. someone linked me to their thread and it was explained that the Thalmor were just a group of the aldmeri dominion, mostly advisors to the queen and I think they also said they were in charge of holding down the coasts of summerset. I think protecting it from invasions by sloads or something? still have to find out what a sload is. I do like this thalmor better honestly because they're sort of an elite upper class, but in pvp i'm gonna be cursing the nords xD hahaha

yeah, they were also somewhat of a proxy govt in Valenwood. Sload's are slug people who are masters of necromancy and at master long-term plans from a different continent that keep trying to take over Tamriel but cannot get past the Summerset Isles cause Altmer are awesome.

for 8, what i meant was it depends on the skill of the players, if you got all the keeps fairly easily then you might have them longer and can celebrate it, but more than likely you will be defending the stuff you just won over.

yes altmer are awesome!! :D
Prox govt in Valenwood? You mean like how the aldmeri dominion in ESO has their main city in Valenwood? So in this era i guess the Altmer would have primarily control in Valenwood. (don't know the name of the city)
and crap im sorry i meant 9, "why everyone likes nords" and you just said skyrim

Skyrim popularized Nords. The entire game was basically about Nords and their history. To add on to that outside of games, Nords are basically Vikings and Vikings are pretty damn interesting.

Because Skyrim and Morrowind were based around the Nord and Dunmer societies and those were two of the game MANY people started with, many peoples favorite race became those races.

Regarding the campaign locking - is there a way to guarantee someone in my friends list can get into the same campaign as me even if they join, say, a week after I first enter the fray? My missus is mostly PvE based but I know she'll eventually want to see what the PvP is all about and i'd like her to join my campaign, even if (undoubtedly) she's late to the party, as it were.

Many thanks in advance :)

If my friend in the same Alliance is in a different campaign, can I switch to that one?

If you want to join a friend in a different PvP campaign, you can reassign yourself to that campaign as long as both of your characters are in the same Alliance. You could also use a guest pass with your friend. Guest passes allow you to play in versions of Cyrodiil that are not your regular assigned version. You still need to be in the same Alliance, of course.

Ok that's great news thanks - didn't know about the knowledge base! ta

edit: Presumably the reassignment is free and doesn't cost Alliance points if they are friends with me?

There might be a cost for switching campaigns; they haven't finalized details yet, at least not in the interviews ans "Ask us" articles on their site. They probably want some kind of restriction in place to stop people from switching over and over, or prevent other issues, but that could be in-game gold or something else along those lines.
