All spells cost 1 Magicka, wut.

I still need help..




Well, I just got Oblivion loaded and my friend came to visit and loaded a ton of mods to my PC, better cities, natural envirnoment, crowded roads, stealth overhaul, more weapons and armor, there are now strawberry pies in my game, archeology guild and much much more. But wtf, all my spells cost 1 magicka to cast and he has no idea what mod is causing this.. I'll put up all the mods I have active right now into a huge list right now, but if anyone has past knowledge of why this happens, feel free to let me know right away. Theories of possible fixes of this are also much appreciated.

I had the LAME (version 1.0) active when I first saw it, deactivated it and all spells still cost 1 MP.

I am curious, is that mod list you gave the load order, or is is just alphebetized? If that is your load order that might be the problem.

I would recommend running BOSS if your friend has not done so for you, as it orders your mods in such a way to avoid issues like this (Link Below):

they are alphabetical in that list, they load order is very different from the alphabetical list I have in the original post. And right now, I just toggled the LAME off, as I also found that v1.7 on my own, but as a noob I am I cannot load it myself and make ot work :D

Ok, so it seems *most* spells cost 1 MP, such as the basic healing spell, flare, burning touch and pretty much every spell edgar vatrine has in his shop, but summon scamp costs 77, bound dagger 27, shocking touch 18 and another one costs 17. Strange. also, all the spells that cost 1 MP had the buy value of 4, every single one. Though I might add that here, if it helps.

Also, an NPC is dublicated, a spell seller in the better cities imperial city market district. Don't know if it is intentionally made so, he sells spells after all.. both of him lol.

Don't you make BOSS, Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) or Wrye Bash? You can copy the load order from those programs

You don't need to do it by hand. If you're not using a mod manager [and that's a Really Bad Idea?] open a dos prompt, cd to \oblivion\data and type the following:

dir /b /od *.esm *.esp > list.txt

Then paste here the content of the list.txt file you'll find in the same directory.

If you know how to use http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11536, you can probably figure it out.

Just install+launch.

In the first window that pops up asking what mods to load, you shouldn't have to change anything, just say OK, then wait for it to load (it will take a bit), the message window on the right will say http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/1446/test4edit.png when it's done.

Then navigate to one of the problem spells, like http://img847.imageshack.us/img847/7656/test4edit2.png (I expanded the "[00] Oblivion.esm" item, then the "Spells" item, then looked for the healing spell you get at the start of the game (Heal Minor Wounds)

The last mod shown on the right is the one that's making the final changes, and should give you an idea why the casting cost is too low. (Just remember, this is the base cost usually, there are other factors, so this wont necessarily be 1)

Ok, I think I have f'cked up my settings pretty badly xD I just walked into a bandit camp and there litterally was 10 bandits respawning around me.. meh. And I have not the slightest idea of how to fix it. I really need to get my friend here, this is starting to be ridiculous.

I don't think you should rely on that friend too much, IIRC PJ's spell compendum caused several problems (including savegame bloating by using PlaceAtMe's). You should really learn to do it yourself and learn the tools of the trade: Oblivion Mod Manager,Wrye Bash and BOSS are pretty much essential for the average mod user and TES4Edit (the tool Lojack recommended) can be a real lifesaver sometimes. It'll also help you prepare for modding Skyrim in the future, which will no doubt see many of the same tools. You can choose to stay a newbie or start taking matters into your own hands. Invest some time in it, it's worth it! :yes:

Ok, everything else is fixed but the 1 MP thing.. It's definitely not a single mod causing it, after deleting all mods that have anything to do with spells, it's still there..

While this problem is probably just a load order problem, my advice is a bit more drastic. Start over with a clean install. I know you probably already spent quite some time with your friend installing mods, but I'd consider that time lost. Don't let your friend install mods for you, but do it yourself, that's the only way to start understanding how oblivion mods are dependent on eachother and how things like load orders work. Read the sticky threads in this forum (the mods FAQ in particular) and make sure to use a utillity like OBMM or Wrye Bash BAIN to install mods. Install one mod at a time, test it and then add the next one.

About the load order, the problem is that Oblivion doesn't allows you to change the load order.

I have been following this thread, I think the first link in my signature to TESIV:POSitive can help you out on the "how do I install mods" question. I like and prefer BAIN as an installation tool, but OBMM works very well at first.
If you take the time to read through Tomlong and Psymon's guides for Wrye Bash, and download Alt3rn1ties Pictorial Guide, you can hopefully gain enough understanding of the basics of Wrye Bash to skip OBMM entirely and use Bash and BAIN to install and manage your Oblivion game.
I do not dislike OBMM, and I still always install it in my Oblivion builds, but I think if somene can avoid using it except as a tool to configure INI files for mods like Enhanced Economy, they are better off in the long run.
