I'm allergic to fuzzy animals, the internet makes me sad

It makes me a bit sad that pretty much any cute animal, places like Reddit just make me frown a bit because the multitude of dog and cat pictures.

When around cats long enough, I start to have asthma like symptoms (despite being perfectly healthy when not around them, I can run for 20 minutes straight, but I'll die around a cat). This is a big problem because my Mom has 4 cats in a one bedroom apartment, visiting her can be bittersweet.
My skin breaks out whenever a dog licks me, skin starts to rash up. Not fun, especially when your brother has an over affectionate dog thats big enough to put you on your ass when he jumps on you.
My dad has guinea pigs and one poked me the other day, the wound swelled up and was about half the size of a ping pong ball. Took almost a full day for the swelling to go down.

I've tried allergy shots and medicine, they work for my itchy eyes, but not for my respiratory problems.

I'm thinking of getting a turtle or gecko, they're not as cuddly as a cat/dog, but they're totally rad dude.

I once had a boxturtle, yeah "Racecar" was a good pet

She didn't seem to trust saucers to hold her food though.

I'd like a chameleon if I could get one

Guinea pigs are awesome pets, I keep mine in a massive playpen in my snakeproof shed.

Well, with cats, typically it's something in the saliva that causes the allergies (not sure about dogs). Which is obviously hard to eliminate entirely because every time they wash themselves it gets on the hair, which then dries, and sheds off, etc. But with average allergies, giving the cats regular rinses can help. Doesn't even have to be a sudsy bath, just pouring some distilled water over then drying them off. And of course, dusting/cleaning the house on a constant basis and maybe using an air cleaner unit or three around the home. I'm allergic to cats myself (sniffles and skin rashes), but I still own them and most of the time it isn't a bother for me personally. I just can't hug them as much as I want, I don't generally allow them on the furniture or in the bedroom, and I have to wash my hands constantly (every time I pet them, basically).

However, with the asthma type stuff .... that's probably not enough, so yeah. :(

Doctor said it was an Allergic Reaction with Asthma like symptoms. Gave me an inhaler and some asthma/allergy pills.

Its weird though. I've never had asthma, but that one time I was visiting my mom and had a sever case of bronchitus (to the point of not being able to sleep it was so hard to breathe). After a week though I was fine around the cats.

Think I just need to build my immunity back up again. I used to be around cats all the time, but its been a few years since I had cats, maybe I just got more sensitive to their allergens in their absence.

I'd like to get a pet snake. Not a huge one, just a relatively small venomless one. They're actually pretty mellow and I've never seen one lash out (unless provoked).
My dad almost pisses his pants when he sees a garden snake, I don't think he'd go for it though.
