So I guess ESO is already up for preorder.
No subscription details have been said at all.

Thats really not unusual. Gamestop and other venders often put up games for pre-order long before any details have even been given to them. I don't trust a one of them, there is no guarantee that the price will remain the same or that you will get any special offers associated with pre-ordering the game.

The largest video game retailer in the USA.

My mistake though.... I'm not sure if it's up for preorder. It just says Buy?

Heck, it could be a download and pay method.
There are several games out there that don't bother with actual copies in stores, just go to the site and subscribe.

Who knows, maybe TES:O will also take that form, in which case all those pre-orders will be for nothing.

Uh.. is that Gamestop? Amazon? Bestbuy? I don't know who sells the most games in the US! Is it some kinda secret? Oh no worries - I'll just do some Googling.

Even if a subscription is mandatory, most publishers send out hard copies for download.

LOL Gamestop has a very industrius employee getting ready well ahead of time ;) They heard it is coming out in 2013 so they put a mock up of the box online and put release date 12/31/2013!

I find it quite humorous that only Gamestop has the release date.

Did anyone get the June copy of Gameinformer?

Like I said, don't believe for a second that they got any info from ZeniMax on the price or what will be offered. You preorder at this point before ZeniMax has announced preorders, you are making a gamble.

As an Australian, I'm pretty clueless about how the American gaming shops work.
However, I do remember them putting a Sims 3 expansion pack up for pre-order, even though it hadn't been announced. It was all based on leaks. Strange ...

I would never preorder something that only info of the game is on gamestop.
I'm definitely waiting for Zeni, or Bethesda to confirm the date.

This is a very dirty way game stores make money. They have preorders for every single game known to mankind, whether they have any information or not, hoping that you'll forget you gave them money, or lose the receipt in the year it takes for release.

Anything to make some money now. Business is all about getting the money as soon as possible and hanging onto it as long as possible. Even if they had to refund everyone, they will have profited for the brief period they had the money.

Yep. And you had to come back into the store to get that refund, giving them another upsell opportunity to get it spent on another game.

That's pretty normal. Once a game is announced, retailers immediately put it up for pre-order.

They certainly did not do that with GTA V. That only has a non gameplay trailer, and yet there is no page on gamestop for it.

Then that's definitely the odd one out. When I worked at Best Buy, I was used to seeing pre-order options pop up almost as soon as preview articles were written.
