[REQ]Alternate Light Armor Hoods

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 4:07 pm

Ok, so this more of a personal preference, but I don't like any of the ingame light armor hoods that are available except the Nightingale one. They all seem to hug the head too tightly or awkwardly. Though only hoods that I really like are the Mage Hood varients (Apprentice, Adept, Expert and what not). They look great, and I can acquire one that doesn't have any enchantments on it. Only issue is, I lose out in the benefit of all the light armor perks, as you have to be wearing a full set of light armor.

So here are the problems:
  • The default ingame Light Armor Hoods seem to fit the head too tightly or awkwardly.
  • Mage hoods look better and fit the head pretty perfectly.
  • You lose out on all of the Light Armor Perk benefits if wearing a Mage hood to compensate for the awkwardness.
Possible solutions:
  • Replace meshes(?) (and textures?) of current default hoods to use the Mage Hood variants instead (the more drastic option).
  • Add new hoods that use the Mage hood meshes and textures but are also listed as Light Armor (not sure it's possible without the CK).
The new hoods don't need to have a lot of armor, and don't need to be overpowered. I would just like the benefit of wearing something aesthetically pleasing as well as benefiting from all those perks I could dump into the Light Armor tree.

I know this is more of a personal preference than anything, but I would greatly appreciate getting help on the matter.

There are some mods on skyrimnexus that turn some hoods into light armor, and as for armor issue use smithing enchants and potions to bring your armor value to your regular value. I did it with my Nightingale hood and dragonscale armor, looks badass.

If you could point me to some that would be great. I've tried searching, but I haven't found one that turns some hoods into light armor. =/
Maybe I'm not using the correct keywords or something. I'll keep trying though, hopefully I'll stumble into it somewhere.
