I can't honestly say why Beth left out the Altmer as followers, except perhaps not having time to finish the feature. There's no Altmer men available for marriage, either.
Not everyone here played Morrowind and are not comfortable with the lore. They just look at them and think they are the bad guys, because they look like bad guys.
Because it seems unlikely that an Altmer would follow someone around, and even if they did, they'd wanna go infront, you'd end up killing them yourself, just go for a Wood or Dark Elf.
Nelacar could have been good follower .. or Faralda :brokencomputer: but noooou all altmer are nazis now and you can't have them as friends derp

They'd follow another Altmer. Actually, I imagine that many Altmer would be quite willing for someone more expendable to stand in front and act as cannon fodder while they did the important work of spellcasting from a safe distance. At least my Altmer occasionally lets Lydia do that.

Yeah... Morrowind. Where the Dunmer had slaves, worshipped a god of secret murder, and have legal assassinations. I can see how that would change people's opinions on whether the Dark Elves are evil or not.
They're not Drow, but you don't want to get on their bad side.
Anyone else met Legate Fasendil, at the Imperial Legion camp near Ivarstead? He's an Altmer I would want as my follower, he's got a cool backstory and none of the traditional Altmer tude at all (He's a Cyrodiil-born Altmer). He's hunted Thalmor during the Great War and expresses the opinion that he can't wait til the peace is up so they can give those Thalmor what for again.
He sounded so much like the Altmer Spellsword I plan to make that I immediately thought he'd be a perfect bro for my Altmer if he was a follower and plenty of my other characters really.
