Amazon Question

Post » Fri Jul 13, 2012 8:55 am

So I'm looking to buy Civilization IV on amazon. And my payment method is limited to $25.

So at first I was going to get this UK version because I thought how different could the American and UK version be. This is it http://www.amazon.com/Sid-Meiers-Civilization-IV-Complete-Pc/dp/B000W2FICG/ref=sr_1_10?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1342115192&sr=1-10&keywords=civilization+IV

And then I looked a little more and found what seems to be a much better deal. http://www.amazon.com/CIVILIZATION-3-4-COMPLETE-Pc/dp/B005UKT826/ref=sr_1_12?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1342115166&sr=1-12&keywords=civilization+IV+complete+edition

But I'm not use to amazon or anything, so I questioned whether to get it since most Civ IV Complete Editions are runnine from $25-$40, but this guy is selling Civ III and IV complete editions at $12. And there are no reviews, so is there a way to tell if it is reliable or not, and would amazon refund a scam if it were actually one?

I had a look at that deal for you- seems legit, but be aware you have to pay nearly $5 shipping on top of that too- says so on the right where the "add to cart" button is.

If you click on the seller, in this case "software central", you can see more details about them and how they've been rated in the past. This seller has been rated 4.9 out of 5 stars over the past 12 months, based on 4472 ratings. That's pretty good, so I'd say the deal is genuine.

Generally, when you buy things from merchants through amazon, you have a certain amount of protection from fraud anyway, but it's always worth checking out the sellers rating anyway.

Hope this helps!

Thank you. I really have no idea how to buy stuff online. :) But I will use this knowledge in the future hopefully. I can handle that $5 shipping also.

What are the differences between the UK and US editions out of interest? I've got a UK release - had a beast of a printed manual.

Also - obligatory "make sure to get Alpha Centauri" comment.

So there's no difference in content... though perhaps an obsession with the letter z and unnecessarily shortened words in the US version?

Yeah words are probably spelled differently like color and colour.
