Ambient music cancelling when bards play

Has anyone determined what makes the ambient tavern music stop when the resident bard is about to start singing/playing an instrument? I've already looked through flags and scripts for dialog, RAI packages, scenes, music tracks...

It probably has higher priority than tavern music, like how combat music overrides most other music types

There is also a music type MUSTavernSILENCE that may have something to do with it?
