No ambient noise volume setting

This hasn't really been a problem up until now, but in the dunwall tower level there's a very loud and annoying ambient noise, which I can't really describe. I tried turning music volume down to 0, but it was still there. Same with all the other volume settings aside from global volume. So it seems that the only way the make it stop is to mute the game entirely, which I don't want to do because I still want to be able to hear voices and stuff. Am I missing a setting hidden somewhere that allows me to turn that awful noise off? If not, Bethesda REALLY needs to add one. I can't stand to play while that noise is there, and I dont want to play on mute, so I basically just can't play now. Which is a shame, because I was really enjoying the game.

I can't recall any annoying noise ... What does it sound like? Is it maybe the arc pylons?

Agreed. Already in the early levels it became apparent that the ambient noise can be very loud. Too loud for me, at least. I looked for an option to lower the volume, but there is no such option in the settings. I think adding such an option would be beneficial, and might not require a lot of work. Maybe in a future patch ?

It sounds like a large piece of metal crashing every 4 or 5 seconds. The arc pylons are also very annoying, but its not that.

 I'm replaying the game now so I'll pay attention to the sounds when I get there ...

After falling victim to the dissapearing saves bug, I started again and now that I'm up to Dunwall Tower again the sound is no longer there. Perhaps it was a bug of some kind, or maybe it had something to do with the fact that I'm playing non-lethally and ghost this time.
