Just some threads about the Preview 3
And this is the official position about them:
You can try these new drivers at your own risk, but we were still testing against them for issues. For now, our official recommendation remains to use the V2 drivers.

Just some threads about the Preview 3
And this is the official position about them:

So with the system specifications above I tryed out with 11.10 Driver Preview 3 those in the order:
1) The game as it is without any launch trigs and without any .cfg manual setup. So far I can say that the game is scattering and impossible to play.
2) Without again any .cfg manual setup I tryed with launch trigs exactly as here: +cvaradd jobs_numThreads -1 +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +seta com_allowconsole 1 +vt_maxPPF 8 -> RAGE was working! But I noticed that the texture popping was still present but for the time needed to load all the elements on the screen than no more. This texture bad issue is visible all the time all everywhere but just for the moment needed by the SVGA to load images and textures on the screen, than textures are there and no more popping apart from very small elements
3) As the game was finally playable despite of momentum popping, I decided to try with .cfg manual setup as below but removing launch trigs written above:
seta com_videoRam "1024"
seta image_anisotropy "4"
seta image_usecompression "0"
seta image_lodbias "-1"
seta image_useCache "1"
seta image_cacheMegs "200"
seta image_cacheMinK "50"
seta m_smooth "0"
seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 "16384"
seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly "16384"
seta vt_pageimagesizeunique "16384"
seta vt_maxPPF "8"
seta vt_lodBias "-1"
seta vt_minlod "-1"
seta vt_maxaniso "2"

The experiment was a faliure and the game was back scattering.

I also tryed with

seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizeunique "8192"

But again a faliure

4) I left the .cfg (with
seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizeunique "8192") and added also the launch trigs as mentioned above and the game was finally running better than before, the texture "momentum" popping is still there, but I can finally say that the game is playable.

5) I did a last try putting the "tick" and forceing disable Catalyst A.I. from the Catalyst Control Center and then each time I tryed to load one of the save game, Rage crashed. No way. So I tuned to Catalyst Control Center and removed the Tick from the A.I. and get back to the game.

6) After couple of moments in game I also activated from the ingame menu the Vsync, putted AA to 2x, and Anysotrphy to High. And the game was finally better to look at and with same texture momenum suffer each time you need to load new scenarios. tooks couple of seconds than the game worked.

So In the end I have to say that new 11.10 Preview 3 are so far the best.

After 3 hours of game play I am experienceing some crashes just in the moment you need to pass from one zone to another via doors when the Game load is needed. The game simply quits itself. This doesn't mean the game is not saved, simply depends on when it appens if straight 1 second before you decide to move to the new level or after 5 or 6 seconds from when you are in front of the transition screen about the zone you are moving to.

I am actally playing the game and get used to texture momentum popping and now to impossibile crashes and self game quitting when on zone transition.

I am still betting that Bethesda and ATI will solve with a definitive Driver release.

Ofc by this time as Battlefield 3 Beta is closed I can't say if that game was running smooth as with Driver Preview 2.

I have recorded a video. So I am looking to upload it too and be back to you asap.

So for everyone following this post and for developers and anyone intreseted in what I'm showing, this is the result of what said above:

After couple of crashed, probably the reason was someone writeing to me on Steam chat while game loading, the game with Driver Preview 3 is running better than with Preview 2 but momentum texture popping is still there.

With the setup written in previous post I played the game for several hours yesterday. It was simply working with that texture pop but providing the game the right time (3 or 4 seconds) and a bit of patient.
I crossed all Dan Missions, finished all Ghost Hideout (and back later), all Outrigger, The Wasted Garage (and back later), all first 2 chapter of Wellspring races (also Cuprino), all Dusty 8 Sponsorship at Bash TV Arena (and 2nd time TV take), Shrouded Bunker (and back for the prototype), Kvasir's Chasm to all Dead City Streets and killed Giant Mutant, all The Well and Toxin to Kvasir's, all races needed to deliver mails, left the game up for 3 hours than back to Liberate Captain Marshall. Right now I am at Authority Prison. This just for yesterday all day gameplay.

I forgot to say that in that video I shake the mouse to let you see that "Momentum" popping: the scene when is rendered on screen is mostly there and you can turn and see that is there without again need to reload all texture and popping visible. When the scene is fully rendered on mid rage objects and close objects, texture are not so badly popping. Than if you are moving from far and watch long distance panorama, like the rocks one and move close to that when fully rendered from distance in each element, the ambient is there, you can shake the mouse, but is there!
This is the same all along the game, apart from when you enter or exit rooms.
In the Well tunnels as close the walls are as far they are like in a tube, the rendering problem was not visible at all.

...
And this is the official position about them:

The new official position is:

NOTE to AMD graphics card users:
It is our recommendation that you stick with the Preview 2 drivers and not the latest driver that was released. We'll let you know if there's a new driver we recommend using.

See the *Update* sticky...

I myself fell back to the preview 2 one day after release. I had a lot more crashes and even more graphic errors with preview 3.

TaDeus, honestly I was surprised to see that on my system works what Bethesda said is not working (without saying why) well... works better than impossibile with Preview 2
