AMD let go of 1400 workers. Does any one know if some of these workers were working on ATI drivers?

They're a multi billion dollar business changing their corporate strategy, not going out of business. Evidently the advertising department got hit the worst and they intend to release a statement soon about the future direction of the company. At any rate, graphics cards are also some of their most profitable products so I seriously doubt they are cutting back on the drivers.

Exactly, these guys are spending 100 million dollars on restructuring and did 1.7 billion dollars worth of business just in the last quarter. No, all the job cuts were not in advertising alone, but its clear they are refocusing their efforts on the profitable lines and that includes their graphics cards.

They've been cutting back on drivers since inception.
