AMDNvidia drivers

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 2:04 pm

With big releases like this, these two companies have a track record of getting a new driver version out pretty fast. AMD's albeit slow as all crap, but still.

Has anyone heard anything? any tweets or anything like that?

Just realised, if AMD gives us a new driver for Skyrim it'll be catalyst 11.11... game released on 11/11/11 WUT?

Typically this is necessary for games using a new engine. The core components of the Skyrim engine are based in a very prevalent and common game engine, so this shouldn't be an issue.

They won't need to. The whole driver issues brought on by Rage is getting old. Skyrim uses DirectX to render so as long as your drivers are current there will be no problems.

Can't speak for ATI, but nVidia just released a new WHQL driver package a week or two ago. I suspect that Skyrim is covered.

Battlefield 3 is a DirectX game and is specifically called out in the beta drivers by both manufacturers.

Your move. :D

Yep, the latest update from Nvidia covered Skyrim, including an SLI profile for the game.

I've read the notes for the lastest ATI drivers and nothing about Skyrim whatsoever. :(

I'm using the same nVidia driver I had from over a year ago — it handles everything I throw at it so I don't worry about Skyrim being a problem. I'll see how the game runs before I worry about drivers.

I don't think that's ever been in dispute. The reasoning is as i mentioned in my first post.

Skyrim needs no specific new driver updates. It's using some fairly common (At this point) features that have been around for years.

Thank you for the info, i had looked 1 month ago and thought i was up to date.

@ Silverware: Dont bother yourself so much Neither NVIDIA mention SKYRIM, Rage problems and BF3 GFX quality paved the way for Skyrim.

Makes me think there will be a new driver very soon because of exactly those games... oh and MW3 release.

You people haven't the slightest clue what you are on about. BF3 paved the way for Skyrim? Where the hell do you get this stuff?

Battlefield 3 was still perfectly playable (for me at least) without them. Rage was not. Case in point, my laptop hasn't received up-to-date drivers in nearing 2 years (due to MSI being complete garbage for driver support), yet has still played every game thrown at it flawlessly, except for Rage due to it using OpenGL to render. Skyrim will be just fine in regards to drivers. Besides, it's not like it's using anything new that would merit new drivers for it.
