I've seen there's a spell called Flame Cloak which does the same thing as Ancestor's Wrath, 8 points of fire damage per second to any hostile within melee range. AW is free so maybe useless wasn't the right term but there's a regular spell that does the same thing. So at the very least it isn't unique.

Don't know. Just read it on the wiki. If they did i'd be nice. But you'd only be able to do it once per day. Plus there is also a frost and lightning cloak so you might be able to stack all 3/4.

Yeah, I saw it on the wiki too. If it stacks it can retain its usefulness to some extent.

Then again, it is with you from the beginning, those spells certainly are not, and they cost magika. Lets not forget the old ancestor ghost was about worse than nothing I was embarrassed to summon it

I never played a dunmer(i played a breton in OB), but yeah the regular ghost spell was better than the ancestor ghost. What is it with bethesda giving dunmers a regular spell of the game as a trait? But yeah its not useless. Even at higher levels I would still use it in a fight. It's free damage. Although since it only works in melee range only a warrior dunmer would get alot of use out of it.
